I genuinely thought he would be on ***** street this time. His lags seemed to just sag underneath him - Amir Khan style - and I thought he was in trouble. At that moment it looked like Jones was in a different class.

However as soon as I saw the goofy dragon sticking his chin out on Jones chest and showboating I knew he would win.

    The guy has bottle.

:good #2 is a great observation b/c Nard and Jones were clearly his biggest stage and he went down in the 1st round on both accounts.

Had that been a prime Jones you had to know the fight would have been over in that round. JOnes just didn't have the confidence or mentality to pull the trigger and act on the killer instinct he once had.

If Joe walked into the Garden that night and had to fight the Jones that rematched Griffin he wouldn't have made it out of the first round. That is assuming the same nervous and stiff Joe that fought the first round of the last fight entered the ring agaisnt that version of Jones. JOe at his best would make the fight interesting but still get beat up.

What i am raving about is Calzaghes mental strenght, not his ability to take a punch, if Calzaghe gets hit hard enough or often enough with clean hard shots he will be knocked out like anybody else, i am sure that in the same circumstance, 90% of boxers {even top class boxers}surviving a knockdown against a 43 year old Bernard Hopkins or a 39 year old Roy Jones Jnr would still have lost, because they would have lost their will power.

so what...he got up and won both fights...and for those who say he needs to keep his hands up...you just don't know boxing....he got caught twice...his hands are down because that is where he feels comfortable...he has never lost so why change now

The Jones of the second Griffin fight would bury Calzaghe.

No doubt about it in my mind. Jones use to be something amazing to watch in his hay day.

its tells me that he is far from infaillable, but also that he has good mental toughness.

and that he's a slow starter

Calm yourself clown. I never said Joe needed to keep his hands up. ON the contrary.....I think part of what makes Joe special is his confidence, reflexes and ability he has with regards to his abundance of skill. His "Cockiness" in the ring gives him an edge that highlights and enhances his preformance. \

Showboating, putting his hands down, talking to his oppoent are all part of his game and I wouldn't have it any other way. That is what Jones use to do in his prime and it made him that much better and more entertaining to watch.. Be easy and don't get your panties all in a bunch.
