Hes cool on going up to 160 proper.
Even if he can make 154, theres no one really for him down there since essentialaly all of the top 154lbs'ers are with PBC, (outside of maybe Andrade, and Andrade is a high risk, low reward kinda guy) and Golden Boy doesnt do business with Haymon.

It makes it that he has little option but to go up to 160, or at least stay above 154.

Fight Quillin? He could maybe bring him down to 158, beat a credible, unbeaten middleweight and build up a fight with Golovkin?

I think he has to fight a top 10 middleweight, even at a catch-weight.

Again, you're dealing with the GB/PBC stand off there.

Hopefully, of course, these guys start making fights.

Canelo doesn't have that many good options other than GGG. If the Bradley rumor is true, then there you have it, one of his title defense. The casual fan won't know any better anyhow. Then maybe Lemiux after a win or two. And probably any other 154lbs that will want to move up for Caneloweight. Canelo has alot of following so the more he wins the more money they will make off of him. Just like Chavez Sr.

Perhaps in your opinion and in an ideal world.

    In reality? Not the case.

Tim Bradley is the perfect opponent for him right now. Bradley is a big name Canelo can massively outsize and add to his resume. Bradley's said he could move up as far as 160 to fight GGG for a big payday. Canelo is the biggest payday for him right now.

    Fight his WBC mandatory GGG.
Canelo knew what was next when he signed to fight Cotto. No one forced him to fight for the WBC MW belt.
    Excuse makers can f*ck off

Terrible fight. Canelo would be coming in at 175, dude... even Bradley seemed aloof about it when they mentioned it to him during the Ramirez fight.

Bradley or Brook at 154 are possible (both have said there interested in moving up)
Andrade, Charlo for the vacant WBC JMW Title
Mayweather II @54 or above(would be the biggest PPV next year)
Lee/Saunders winner for the Lineal/WBO MW Title (probably at a cw 155/56 Lee if he wins has made JMW recently).
GGG for the Lineal and WBC,WBA,& IBF Titles(anywhere between 155-60).
Cotto II for the Lineal MW Title(some people actually think Cotto won, I had it 10-2 but it would still sell).

Canelo has plenty of fight's casuals would buy into, they might not all be good from a diehard perspective but each one would be a top tier credible opponent.

    Well said. :thumbsup

Personally, the fight from that bunch which most intrigues me would be Canelo-Lee, although I think that may be one of the least likely to come to fruition.

Canelo has to face Golovkin next or get stripped of ALL titles. Plus he'd lose face with the Mexican boxing fans. Mexican fighters are renown for their courage, tenacity & willingness to FIGHT!!! If he ducks Golovkin ,Canelo will rightfully be labeled a coward in Fight fans eyes

What demands has Canelo made? He’s being asked about fighting GGG. He’s fighting at 154. GGG is fighting at 160. It’s a fight that can happen. All this drama about Canelo getting stripped is what is wrong with boxing.

Canelo wants big fights. Any good match maker would want Canelo to go up to 160 and not do catchweight fights. For that to happen you have to build up big fights at MW like Canelo vs GGG. Canelo has never before fought at 160 in his life. Most of the time before a Super Fight you at least have multiple fights at that weight.

Golovkin - Canelo is a big fight and no one can predict what will happen in that fight. Canelo’s MW title is worth a lot at 160, it’s worth enough to mandate that GGG fights him for All the Titles.

It’s a very prestigious title for Canelo to carry as he attempts to recapture the vacant Jr Middleweight belts.
