Its a decent enough matchup, but really what does Cotto nowdays do better in the ring than Mayweather?

Mayweather has all the physical advantages and alot more skill than does Cotto.

Cotto's only chance it to get inside and work Mayweather's body like JLC did in their first fight, but even, Mayweather now is physically much stronger than he was in that first Castillo fight.
We're talking about a fighter in Mayweather that bullied two of boxing's strongest on the inside, Hatton and Mosley.

If Cotto takes Mayweather to the inside, I'm afraid Mayweather is physically stronger and tougher than Cotto there as well.

I mean, can anyboby tell me how Cotto beats Mayweather?
I'm at a lost to see how that can happen.

A fighter of Cotto's skillset has to have the determination, chin, and stamina to fight through adversity.
Cotto has been cracked and touched up already I cant see him getting in that kind of zone with a fighter the mental and physical capacity and skill level of Mayweather.

This is a mismatch imo, but then again so is a fight that many wanted to see in Mayweather-Pacquiao.

    Decent matchup my ass.

On the bright side - I think Cotto deserves the payday.

I'm convinced of that, that Cotto has no chance against Mayweather, which is why its a little disheartening as a boxing fan to see Mayweather continue to waist away his talents fighting fighters with really no business in a ring with him.

Martinez would have been a classic matchup in that he's bigger and can move around a ring and be slick.

Even a Canelo fight, Canelo offers youth and the mindset of an undefeated fighter with strenghth, power, and determination.
Would be interesting to see Mayweather in against a Canelo type.
Much would have wanted to see that than a Cotto matchup.

The only thing Cotto does better than Mayweather is show courage when choosing his opponants.

He is a more destructive puncher, probably has a heavier jab, throws combinations more often, uses lateral movement more often (nowadays), and doesn't seem as adverse to getting hit (at least in his prime.)

This short list may not be enough to make a difference now, but it's still there.
