What does Cotto have to do to beat Pac, and what does Pac have to do to beat Cotto?

Good post, but I think Cotto is a good counter puncher, but I do agree that he doesn't throw punches when he is on the defensive.

First bad decision Pacquiao has made, he will lose this one and Roach should know it.

I just hope that making 145 won't kill Cotto. He will have to weigh less than 145 to make weight, and rehydrate properly. People just don't know how serious making weight can be...and just look at Guzman, Campbell, Castillo and Corrales as guys who didn't work hard enough to make weight. Bullshite...!!!

:good If cotto is confident that he can walk Pac down whilst covering up Pac will let his hands go more and more just to keep him off. If Cotto can keep making Pac move like he did Jennings, I think after 5 or 6 rounds Pac would have been throwing alot of punches just to keep cotto off and when u are hitting somebody bigger it takes more out of you so I see Pac starting real fast, going for the KO, Cotto weathering the early storm and then it being more of a boxing match. I feel Cotto can hurt Pac and hurt him bad but whether or not he will be able to catch him or corner him is another story but Cotto cuts the ring off well and if he lands to the body Pac will definitely feel it regardless how hard pac has trained. This fight could go either way. Pac needs to be the sharp shooter in this fight to win. The longer the fight goes Im swaying towards Pac due to workrate but the heavier hands of Cotto may have more of an effect on Pac the longer this fight goes.

Making 145 will probably work against Cotto the longer the fight goes.
Cotto can neutralise Pac with a good stiff jab, a jab can neutralise speed if used correctly.

Cotto: Timing, his wonderful double hook to the body, cutting off the ring, stop laying on the ropes trying to weave everything

Pac: Uppercuts, staying busy (which he is really good at), going in and out.

Remember the movie Silver Streak when Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor were listening to the guy Slow Poke talk, and when he was done talking, they asked each other, "what did he just say"...lol

Cotto has to impose his size and make distance a factor, the way Morales did in the first fight, and the way Marquez was able to do for long stretches of both fights with Manny. He has the jab and the technical foundation to do it, and he's proven with Mosley and Judah that he can handle elite speed.

And for God's sakes, he needs to keep one hand ready to block the straight left at virtually all times.
