Easy Just beat Pacman, Floyd and a rematch with Margo and thats its, thats a heck of acomplisment, and a sure put over Trinidad in the Hall of Fame status. Pacman and Floyd are far better acomplisment than Vargas and Hoya and add a the victory that Cotto have over Mosley to complete the package.
"so called illegal wraps"?????? the guy had a whole roll of tape over the knuckles, thats illegal. and big deal by K.O.ing Mayorga, he leaves himself open and any boxer at his weight w decent skill and power would have caught him. i dont think he would have got past Campas or Vargas:admin:tong
Regardless of size Pacquiao is favourite, look what happened to De la Hoya. I like how you say albeit no.1 like its a unimportant sidenote, the fact is nobody can touch Pacquiao right now, except maybe Floyd but thats another story. If Cotto beats Pacquiao it'll elevate him beyond Tito in my book and alot of other peoples, if he beats Mayweather as well he'll be on a completely different level. Im not hating on Tito thats just the way I see it. I should add I cant see Cotto winning so it doesnt really matter regardless.
on paper ....tito lost to BHOP BAD and winky BAD....he lost to ODLH IMO....then came back and got smashed by RJJ....if cotto beats pac...who is the favorite and allegedly the best fighter on the planet along with mosely judah clottey...and all the wars he had I would rate cotto higher...but he will never be tito in legend cuz he is just not tito with puerto ricans
if cotto beats PBF and pac he is far superior to TITO...who ha s tito beat...2 green young fighters in vargas and reid...what is his signature win...ODLH??? a fight where he did **** for 7 rounds and squeaked out a **** dec... sweet pea at the tale end of his career???? tito was agreat fighter but if cotto beats pac and PBF how is tito better
Cotto is so underrated on this forum it isn't even funny. Cotto's signature wins: Mallignaggi, Qunitana, Judah, Mosley, and Clottey signature loss: Margarito Trinidad's signature wins: old Sweet Pea, De La Hoya, Vargas, Joppy, and Mayorga signature losses: Hopkins, Wright, RJJ Cotto isn't that far behind Trinidad. Some of you act like it's impossible, when you look at their resumes it's pretty close IMO. A win over Pacquiao and Cotto would surpass Trinidad.
I'd squeeze the feat of handing both prime Carr and prime WhiteBoy their first defeats (destroying them, actually - and climbing off the canvas to do so in both cases) right in alongside the signature wins for Tito. At least as much if not moreso than Mayorga and Joppy. Cotto just needs to hang in there and dispel the shadow of doubt by way of attrition. If he stays active and in shape for another 6-7 years, and fights a good (and credible) name at least annually...there will be no case to be made against him at least joining if not surmounting Trinidad's historical berth.
this.... i dont know where this never can stuff is coming from, Tito was a monster and he's my top 5 fav. of all time, but he beat Pac and FMJ i'd have him at the very least, in the same echelon as Tito if not higher 3 more big wins over P4P level opponents would do it for me
If he knocks out Pacman, he will have surpassed Tito. Tito was good but to be honest, he did not do that great with the top notch guys. Oscar he barely beat. He lost to Hopkins and Wright, and with Bernard he was good at the weight and prime enough. Without beating Pacman, Cotto would have a ways to go to reach Tito. A win over Pacman gets him there quickly.
Beat Pac, Floyd, Mosley, and KO or beat Margo to a pulp without major damage Move up to 154 and beat Chavez JR. (very probable) or PWill at this weight or 147 (if he beats Pavlik...making his status as a fighter much higher is a VERY solid win) And you got Cotto head and shoulders above Tito. There's a SHITLOAD of IF's in that statement, but it can be done. Will it happen? :think Unsure...but it's not impossible.
