Haye seems to divide a lot of posters on this forum and I'm just interested to see what people would like to see him achieve before they give him kudos.

I will point out that this thread is purely hypothetical and I'm not asking the question 'what will Haye achieve', but 'what will he have to do for you to personally give him his props'. Thoughts?

He has my respect now. He is far and away Britain's best current boxer. Unified Champ at Crusierweight, title holder at HW. Went to Paris to fight Mormeck, went to Germany to fight Valuev.

Only stain on his record in the respect stakes, is his erm, shenanigans, with the the Klitschkos. If he doesn't end up fighting either of them, or he does and gets Herbie Hided, then I'll lose some respect for him, after all the endless talk.

I'm a haye fan...I think he is exactly what the HW division needs....

I think a lot of people have negative opinion of haye because he hasnt fought a klitschko, when he had the opportunity to....

I think haye will fight one, just give it time...

Or because of the Valuev stinker where he did little more than posing and running.

It's called ring generalship...not running.....haye fought the right gameplan for that fight against a freak of nature in the size department...

... And then acted like he did something afterward. That's where he lost alot of people.

Because of his talking he has to fight one Klitschko. I hope in 2010 the fight against Vitali will be made. If he gives him a competetive challenge he has my full respect, but it´s also great what he has shown at cruiserweight.

Haye ran, didn't fight. Valouev did almost all of the fighting. Johnson threw more punches than Haye. Now Haye will hide and not fight anyone until he is forced to. He refused to fight Vitali and Vlad, broke a contract.

If Haye "ran" against Valuev, than Sugar Ray Leonard never stopped "running" :-(

If that is your idea of good "ring generalship" and a good "gameplan" throwing 12 punches a round then i guess Chagaev, Ruiz, & Donald are Gods among men who have the courage of Hannibal, Alexander the great, & Genghis Khan combined.

By beating one of the Klits he'll gain my respect.

He's unified the Cruiser div which is a hell of an achievement in itself. Winning a Heavyweight title is a great achievement also but he didn't have to do loads and it was against a pretty poor champion.

He beats one of the Klits and he's got my respect. He had my respect beforehand but now he's done all this talking and mouthing off I feel he needs at least a win against one of them to deserve credit. If he loses to both or one (and doesn't beat the other) he'll have lost a bit of respect on my behalf

Holyfield did much better vs. Valouev than Haye. Ruiz did way better. Chagaev actually beat Valouev. Vlad beat Chagaev to win the WBA title in the ring, but the WBA simply gave the title to Valouev after Chagaev beat him, then set up the judges to give it to Haye for bigger money. Vlad beat the WBA champion, the real one.

Throwing punches isn't fighting, it's waving your arms about. Landing punches is fighting and Haye landed about as many as Johnson and Valuev put together.

These discussions are really starting to open my eyes as to how some of you jokers come up with the scorecards that you do.
