What does Haye have to do to overtake Calzaghe's in terms of Legacy?

Please point me to a post on here in which I gave Calzaghe any credit for beating Jones. You won't find one.

Hopklns proved against Pavlik that he's still a strong force and Joe was 36 himself when they fought FFS. Not completely in his prime like Haye is.

 

Not much to be honest.

If he beats both Klits he will have surpassed Calzaghe by quite a distance IMO. It's not the amount of fights you have, it's who you beat in that time.

 

Eubanks who was only just the wrong side of 30?

Who gave Carl Thompson hell?

Who beat David Haye aged 40, 6 years after Eubanks?

Here are Calzaghes 'notable' wins....

Kessler was always his best win - Kessler has only beaten Andrade, Mundine and Beyer of note. His defining moments have been a loss to Calzaghe and a loss in the Super 6 to an relative unknown outside of the sport.

Lacy - Incredible to think its one of his best wins really. Lacy has done nothing before or since to warrant the hype he recieved. The whole angle for the Calzaghe fight was run on the concept of his perfect 'abs' FFS. And he's Jermain Taylors only win in 5

Jones - Shot - End of

Hopkins - Its debatable whther or not Hopkins is past his best. I'm neither here nor there to be honest. The last fight proved little and Pavlik was a middleweight who was supposedly ill and has ducked everyman and his dog since. It's also debatable as to who won the fight itself which is hardly a great win, he should have rematched him, whatever your thoughts are about the outcome of that fight I think it should be a certainty in you mind that they should have fought again.

Eubank - That was a decent win. Although Eubank got the fight on like 3 weeks notice (was it 3 weeks ??) and was already training for a cruiserweight fight.

I dont think David Haye is above Calzaghe in terms of legacy by any means but as you've alluded to you can only beat whats infront of you.

Haye was beaten by Carl Thompson which hurts him as it stands but he beat Fragomeni, Mormenck in Paris, Enzo (**** one I know but he was supposed to be the closest rival) and Valuev in Germany.

He beats both Klitschko's and Ruiz and in my mind there's no doubt he would overtake Calzaghe in terms of legacy

yeah sure letz see all haye has to do is keep fighting against the 2nd best fighterz around until vitali is at least a year or two older then beat him in a contraversial fight and he would have eclipesed that thing you britz are calling a legacy

Yeah he could fight a hell of alot more often against easy beats like Calzaghe did to boost his Legacy!

 

Calzaghe made the division look medicore for a long time.

Charles Brewer, Byron Mitchell and Robin Reid were all in the same class as Hopkins (MW version, LHW Hopkins is a class above), Nunn and all.

Is it just a coincidence that once Calzaghe retires all these great fighters suddenly appear?

Haye has only had 3 title fights and his best win being an old Mormeck. The Enzo win doesnt look great now that hes lost 3 out of his last 5. He picked up the paper WBA title (Chagaev had the real one remember) via a very close decision.

Besides his loss to Thompson his note worthy fights were Mormeck, Enzo and Valuev.

Calzaghes were Eubank, Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins. With a long reign and crazy longevity.

Having said all that if he beats Vitali or Wlad he may well be ahead.
