What does Hopkins has to do to be ranked above Joe Calzaghe?

tito, oscar, winky wright, glen johnson, antonio tarver, kelly pavlik were all decent wins.

i dont have anything against calzaghe...he's a great action packed fighter but bernard has better wins against better competition.

Calzaghe's best wins are better than anything Hopkins achieved.
Calzaghe's best two wins were against a prime undefeated Kessler and a win away against Bernard Hopkins, who was in the middle of his best run of wins which continued after Hopkins had been beaten by Joe Calzaghe.

Whatever two wins anybody cares to mention that they think are Hopkins two best wins they dont compare to Joe Calzaghe's best two wins.

So basically what you are saying is this:-

    1. I am too young to know anything about Chris Eubank, Michael Watson, Mark Prince.

    - So therefore anything I state such as:-

    a) Eubank was at his best back in the early 90's
    b) Eubank was a little weight drained
    c) Thompson wasnt all that
    ......

All that is dismissed because you happen to be, my guess, about 15-20 years my senior.

Come on bailey man, you know me, I am a boxing historian while you are a boxrec historian.

Hopkins KO Hoya, via bodyshot, being the first man to do so, was pretty legendary.

Calzaghe slapping Manfredo was also legendary, but not great legendary more like a comedy legendary,

Quick question to you realsoulja. Now when your debate with Bailey has made you downplay your statements to a more resonable level, lets move over to the 10 000 dollar question: how much do you think Eubank had declined when he fought Cal-slap-a-lot? Enough to write the win off?

And for the record: obivously Eubank was not going as strong anymore, but the only solid thing that suggests he was downhill was his two losses against Collin. The rest of the stuff you bring up clearly does not speak in favour of Calzaghes win, but they are all very debatable. Like the assumption that a guy is past it because he comes back from a selfproclaimed retirement at the age of 31, and take on world level opponents. Criticism against Calzaghe tends to include some smoke and mirrors like that.

I have said from the begining, Calzaghe UD12 Eubank is a good win for a young upcoming fighter to have over a faded veteran.

I think everyone will agree that Eubank did decline, Eubank was nowhere as good as he was back in the early 90's.

I agree re: head to head. And I think Calzaghe would have given any of the great middleweights a great fight. But an argument can be made that BHop has a greater career in determining ATG status.

To go to an extreme example, no one thinks Ken Norton is a greater all time heavyweight than Ali. Even those who think he won all three of their fights. Obviously, the case is MUCH closer for Joe Calzaghe than for Norton though, because Calzaghe has a much more accomplished record than Ken. Both were great fighters. Why can't it be left at that?
