Well in his prime Duran found a way to deal with faster more fluid boxers. He never faced one like Whitaker in his prime but Ken Buchanan, Viruet, and Ray Lampkin were very skilled boxers and he overcame them. At 135 if you didnt get Duran's respect he'd keep coming relentlessly and Whitaker seldom sit on his punches at 135 although they were flashy. I feel a young strong determined Duran would be the only fighter that had a good chance of putting it all together and beating Whitaker. Educated pressure, power, and tenacity can derail a better boxer.

Duran would need to cut him off, and trap him into the corners - rough him up and try to negate both Sweet Pea getting away, and his high punch output; in short be a pitbull in his face.

Whitaker had a great jab going backwards and was possibly the best puncher Ive seen going backwards but he never set down on his punches at 135. Roberto wouldnt respect his power and would be try his best to stay all over him. People forget Duran was one of the best defensively sound agressive fighters. He was hard to hit clean and at 135, was similar to a right handed Manny Pacquaio how he coupled good speed power, tenacity, and skill. It would have been a hell of a fight.

    It takes:

    1. a much bigger fighter (154 lber)
    2. a great fighter
    3. corrupt judge

thats the recipe to beat a prime whitaker

Only Esteban De Jesus beat Duran at 135, and it was in a non title fight. Duran was 13-0 in title fights at 135, which included a stoppage victory over Ken Buchanan.

DeJesus beat him, and Duran defeated Buchanan for the title. Ramirez defeated Whitaker as well, and I dont remember it being as much a robbery as people say now. I watched the entire fight on ESPN classic a couple months ago and scored it for Whitaker by only 2 points. Couldve been a draw, depends entirely on what you prefer to score rounds.Ramirez scored the harder punches and kept high pressure on Whitaker but lacked the skill set of Duran and still had success.

You won't find anything. I have been looking for footage of him for months and so far, nothing.
