It USED to help a ton. Now I am not sure....at least here in the US.

Mayweather was starting to get big sheerly by being ranked P4P #1 for so long. But DLH gave him an astounding boost.

Honestly, I only knew a few people who knew who Mayweather was before the DLH fight. So I can only answer from my own perspective there.

Kessler isn't good enough a fighter. His style isn't enough to really capture the fans either, especially the mainstream US market.

Obviously the fans are everything too. If you win the crowd its builds up from there. But i have always wondered whats more important: Winning even if it was a snoozer or entertaining the crowd? Obviously if you do both your set too.

There will be no more crossover stars like this until boxing gets back on television, which means probably never. All of those fighters listed above started on tv. A gold medal olympian is our best bet. There will be European fighters, Pacquiao and Hatton are already at this stage, but that is because their countries do not make it as hard to watch the fights as the USA does.

Have a likeable personality ... if people can relate to you on some kinda level then thats something that would attract them to you.

I think Ward won an olympic gold medal. Unfortunately he hasn't been on TV much.

Mikkel Kessler probably has the best potential if HBO backs him fully. David Haye could also be a possibility, but he is probably a bit to mouthy to turn into a new 'golden boy'.

Manny honestly will not get a single women to watch. He is short and frankly not good-looking. Mayweahter is short and obnoxious. Pavlik, despite being an excellent fighter, would have to go to at least SMW or LHW, because at MW he just looks like a corpse with all the ribs hanging out and his cheekbones he looks like Kate Moss doing the Robinson Expedition in Ethiopia. Calzaghe - well, Joe is again an excellent fighter, but he has a tendency to look really gay. Both when he fights and in photoes. And he doesn't really hit with his body and sweat he more pitter-patter flurry's like an angry girl. Now he is one of my favorite fighters, but we have to be honest here.

Yeah, if HBO are smart they back Kessler and fast. He is not getting any younger.

Pacman is already a cross-over star in the philippines and slowly becoming one abroad

PBF is already to a lesser extent a cross-over star in the usa and slowly becoming one abroad

Same with Hatton and Calzaghe in the UK

    Cotto in PR for sure

What exactly do we mean here by crossover star? To my understanding crossover star is getting mainstream audiences to watch your fights. Therefore, if we don't look at it through American lenses, Hatton already is, Calzaghe is but not as much as Hatton. Pacquoui has a whole nation watching at the ends of their seats. Thinking another DLH is going to come is not possible. DLH was gifted with a great amateur career and gold medal with teary-eyed story about his mother, movie star looks, classic boxing style (stance and style help if they are throwbacks to earlier greats), undefeated record for a while, and high ko ratio, willingness to go to war, and not having too much shame so he can cut gay ass grammy nominated album. Who the hell is gonna fill that spot? That's asking for lightning to strike twice. We have to lower our standards a bit and we'll see some are already in front of our nose.

Following these examples, be the champ and look good doing it. have a lot of fans and go on a mainstream TV or media thing. That makes a boxing star a household name.

Duran make the Crossover even without speaking in English. How'd he did that?

He did it by beating the Crossover star SRL. Pac can do the same if he fight and beat DLH. PBF made the crossover by doing the same but he cannot sustained it coz he's not confident enough to beat the best competiton.

Pac has the chance but he has to fight and beat DLH first. Just beating Hatton is not good enough coz hatton is not that popular yet in the US. Why do you think Lazcano fight is not even in HBO??? How many PPV headliner does Hatton has other than PBF???

Imagine if Pac-DLH is actually will happen in DEc 6??? Let's say 24/7 show and it hits at least 2M PPV for his last fight. Let's say Pac wins by SD in an all action fight. Where do you think those 2M pPV buyers will go after DLH retires???

After DLH, Pac can fight any of Hatton, Valero, Campbell, JMM and I'm sure it will be a Blockbuster with a Minimum PPV buys of at least 800K. Everything will fall into pieces after Pac beat DLH. Pac has the style and a Historical stature in boxing as an ATG, a Living legend by just beating DLH. Same as what Duran was after he beat SRL. Since Pac can at least speak english, although limited, it will be good enough for guesting in the talk shows and make some crossover TV ads.

He already be-friended NBA stars Garnett & Co. and some wwe Wresters. I can see Pac doing NBA Celebrity game next year. It's happening already. But the Key is the DLH fight.
