Tons of amateurs have an amazing record yet never go pro. Why is that?

Amateur and professional boxing are vastly different, and I suppose most of these amateurs who don't turn pro do it because they've experienced seasoned professionals in the gym one way or another.

If by "make it" ya mean be successful, walk away with a bundle (with all your marbles), It takes talent, charisma 'n connections. Mostly the latter.

Fans are fickle. Fighters are quickly replaceable soon as they're off the front page.

Could rattle off a litany of fighters who thrilled fans 'n now broke 'n blind.

It was their choice and most wouldn't change second of it, but they sure could've used Jimmy McLarnan's management

Guy at my gym got a contract in England and he makes around $4000 a month
He had like 79 amateur fights of which he won 59. Never made it to the olympics
