what does klitschko's 3 fight HBO deal mean?

It's a sign of the times that HBO decided to give Klitschko another try after blacklisting him for what seemed like about 10 years...it speaks to how bleak the boxing landscape is these days. floyd is on his last fight or two, same with pacman, ward is medically unfit, hopkins has finally succumbed to father time...the cubans are the most talented fighters but lack a fanbase. canelo still hasn't proven himself and the rest of boxing is filled with uncharismatic guys trying to get attention by fighting bums. all the star power is about to check out of boxing in a hurry, so i guess HBO got hard up and desperate, picking up klitschko who's style is a proven nightmare for fans...i personally still have nightmares about the davarryl williamson and tony thompson fights.

no doubt HBO is trying to set up klitschko fights with wilder and possibly stiverne or bryant jennings...if that's the case, i could see HW boxing in the states making a comeback. the kltschkos have been truly awful for boxing...their style of fighting is extremely boring and crappy to watch. but i don't blame them for the wretched state of the HW div. now with joshua, ortiz, stiverne, wilder and bryant , all bright young talents with actual talent and eye-catching skills boxing could be looking up again.

Yeah, the Klitschkos have been awful for boxing  :patsch

    What are you on, son?

Their style of fighting boring? Did you find the Pulev fight boring? They knock every opponent out cold.

It's a gamble of sorts. But probably not an expensive one. And also because HBO and Top Rank don't have too many great options in the immediate future.

The three fight deal from HBO seems like a gamble from HBO in the hope that Wilder beats Stiverne and then they will have a potentially lucrative unification match.

By showing Wlad in a couple of fights they will hopefully build more interest in a potential unification fight involving a hard hitting American. If Wilder should beat Stiverne I fully expect the hype around him to explode to ridiculous levels. Arreola was Vitali's most lucrative fight and he was facing a fat C level heavyweight imagine how much money could be earned against an American fighter who is big, tall, athletic and hard hitting.

If Wlad's last fight was boring, what is the definition of Ward's, or Floyd's, fights?

Let's hear Mike Tyson on this subject:

"Watching floyd Mayweather fighting is as exciting as watching paint dry"

Wlad-Povetkin was worse than anything either of those guys ever did in terms of "excitement"

Yeah, me too. I would be very surprised to see Wilder on HBO in the next year and a half...

    What utter ****ing ****

Wlad hasn't been an exciting champion to watch and that is a fact one really good power punching performance against pulev doesn't erase all his grab and laying on snoozefests which in turn has not been good for boxing . The wlad/vitali era has been bad for boxing their quality of opposition though is as much to blame as wlad's style of fighting though. The brothers legacy has and will be a little tainted by their lack of quality opponents . It's a real pity they are brothers as they are the only ones that could of given each other a career defining fight . Vitali had a shot at such a fight but couldn't beat an old unmotivated lewis who had planned to retire after beating his original scheduled opponent

Hey son, you better deal with the fact that Wlad might be the greatest of all time.

Klitschko has been quite boring over the years.
    But Mayweather's been boring too.
    Lennox Lewis was often boring.

The reason HBO gave up on Klitschko and took so long to want him back is more to do with the fact that America has had no genuine heavyweights.

Also, since Klitschko acts like a ordinary person outside the ring, and not an obnoxious anti-social moron, he's not considered to have the "charisma" of the American superstars.

Why are you bringing mayweather into this? this has nothing to do with fmj...stop using mayweather as a yardstick to uplift your lousy, boring, stiff, clumsy idol...

mayweather is a boxing genius who dominates proven champs and pfp entrants like like canelo, ssm, cotto, maidana, ortiz, guerrero....floyd fights the elite...and his fights are entertaining displays of brilliance.

on the other hand, klitschko fights garbage ...guys who are mostly old and guys who suck so bad, I could probably beat their a88 with three months training...and Klitschkko still looks boring and tentative and ****ty everytime out.
