Will Conor be re-evaluated by people that thought he was invincible after Khabib trounced him?

It'll stop people thinking he's in contention to be the goat.

But for those who think he's the best FW ever, I don't see this fight changing that

I think Khabib will be goat if he continues winning and moves up to get a title.

One could almost predict this defeat after Conor went life and death with Mendes.

His problem is he's too in love with his standup game, having no peer in that department.

Yet i gave him no rd vs Khabib.

His legacy took a big hit last saturday.

Imo Conor had a brilliant run at 145 won the title and beat some very good fighters and an all time great fighter in Aldo. Never defended the belt though. If he had have stayed and defended against Edgar, and then later the dangerous Ortega, full camp Mini Mendes and always improving Holloway he just might have lost several of those fights as all 4 guys are extremely good on the ground. Who knows really.

Above 145 he one has 1 great win and now several awful loses/finishes.
In his next fight at 155 if he loses and looks garbage again it will greatly affect his legacy. For this reason you can BET that he will only fight the average Nate Diaz again instead of a big dangerous top 5 guy at 155. I have always said that many guys at 155 can beat Conor. Nate Diaz when he fought Conor/ and now is barely top 10 and just likes to slug it out on the feet. Conor and Nate Diaz are massively overrated at 155.

I don’t think it impacts his 145 legacy. But it certainly bursts the bubble of the people who were talking GOAT.

I think he’s been found out to be a top level striker but limited in other areas.
All professional losses by submission and too dependent on one discipline.

His legacy, for me, will be more about his showmanship and salesman presence than pure MMA ability.

But no doubt he was a game changer from a promotional POV and a GOAT in that respect.

Who thought Connor was invincible anyway? I like McGregor and was hoping he would win, but in reality it played out like most thought it would. No I don’t think it damages his legacy, at least not by much...however if he had won (or can shock in a rematch) it may have elevated it a good deal.

Really Mirko ? You rate him that highly ?? Hes a tough man and relentless, but you would put him before Fedor ? Lol, im not looking anywhere near that yet, but its just opinions he could very well do that, he got a few fights to go though, a good few

If he keeps on winning and move up weightclasses to win titles, he has a good chance.

Woodley vs Khabib at 170, while not the casual's cup of tea, is one I'd love to see and in my opinion is a fascinating matchup: Khabib's ferocious wrestling and takedowns versus Tyron's excellent takedown defence and right hand power.

Yep, I’m with you on this one. One for the purists, but it’s one I’d love to see.

Woodleys wrestling is top drawer too. I think that gives him the edge overall. Coupled with familiarity at the weight.

Dana would hate that fight!!! Both guys would say nothing interesting to promote it.

I dont think McGregor was ever in the conversation to be "goat"

He is what he is, a very exciting stand up fighter who was brilliant at promoting himself and hugely entertaining.

His weaknesses have always been shitty stamina and ground game

At the end of the day he's a "stand up and have a war" type fighter and that's what people love. Within MMA rules take downs and ugly stifling styles are hugely effective but they aren't what the paying audience likes to see which is why gifted strikers will always be the biggest draws.

I knew he'd lose to Khabib as khabib was too big and too good at grappling and mat work. And the fight played out pretty much exactly as I expected.

So conors legacy will be that he was a very good fighter who was very entertaining and became a crossover star the biggest in the history of the UFC.

And I think he'll be ok with that.
