The title of the thread should be, "What does Marquez have to do to be ranked higher than Barrera and Morales".

I agree 100%. Marquez is nowhere near the level of Chavez or Sanchez, and he is still a bit behind Barrera and Morales too. Becoming a 4-weight champ could drag him level or ahead of those two, but considering his performances at 135 I think 140 would be too much for him.

I think he's better than Morales and he beat Barrera, but for some reason Morales and Barrera's legacy feel more solid. I agree with the not quite there yet vibe from Marquez. Guess what he really needs is the fountain of youth (he should ask Hopkins).

Those guys beat better guys coming up and defending. Marquez had the luxury of fighting them when they got a little older. Marquez is not in the Pacman,Morales,Barrera class. That is very clear.

Was MAnny "past thier prime a little or just not that great"?

Saying he had to beat Mayweather , is like saying MAyweather must beat Arthur Abraham to an ATG

    :yep

Juan's shoehorned his way into my heart and become probably my favorite of the three over the last several years, but even weighting head-to-head ability disproportionately over resume (like 70-30), he still falls shy. MAB and Erik both have HOF careers if you chop off the last five years. JMM - not so much.

Resume wise, OK, Sanchez is slightly ahead but head 2 head MArquez has more than a great chance to beat Sanchez and in terms of boxing ability, he's above Sanchez. Could Sanchez have beaten Pacman or moved up to beat a Juan Diaz?? WEll never know..

bull****, the guy that arguably beat manny twice isn't on the class of someone that got destroyed by manny twice?, come on.

Sanchez would drop Marquez a few times and win a UD at 126
