Or picking and choosing stylistically suitable matchups, sporadic fighting and some negative performances.

How exciting were Floyds fights with Baldomir, De La Hoya, Marquez, Castillo II?

I'll always remember his defensive masterclass against the ATG offensive beast Philip Ndou. And his offensive breakdown of the cagey and crafty Arturo Gatti.

A lot of good points made in this thread, looking at things from a whole and reading it, I don't think my argument of not being easy to hit and good at counter punching is a valid comparison when you look at the differences of the fighters. Im going to have to watch a bit more previous footage it seems and have a rethink?

Floyd's cleaner, sharper, doesn't smother his work like ward does & better footwork

If Mayweather would only put combinations together, he'd be so much more exciting

Both fighters are safety first and don't take unnecessary chances which is always going to be boring unless they are up against equally talented fighters which rarely happens.

Floyd is so good his fights are not competitive. On the other hand it's easy to see his work and its accuracy and its hard not to be impressed.

Ward by comparison does so much holding and mauling the crowd falls asleep.

Ward's ''holding'' is a myth. When he's got one arm tied up and is punching with the other, and then opponent is the one clinging with both arms, who's the negative one exactly?

I was actually shocked he didn't stay on inside and rip into Froch who seemed to not be concentrating on inside and never has had inside skills. I thought Ward would take him to school there but he did enough and got away. I think Ward could of enjoyed lots of success there.

Floyd is much better at him at pot shotting, shoulder roll, slipping, right hand leads, jabbing to the body.... amongst many other things.

They are similar in that they are both very good technically, don't fight in a style that relies on their talent (speed) and are able to adapt to their opponent, whether that is boxing brawling, fighting on the inside etc

Mayweather's faster, quite a lot faster. Defence is a little tighter too. Probably has a little more power also.

Ward reminds me more of Hopkins. Doesn't look the most special fighter on the face of things but has every base covered.

  10. Ward's left hook is better I feel.
