After giving a good few rounds against the very hard to box Valuev, and then doing what he did to the supposedly iron chinned, and devastating puncher in Peter, what does McCline do, now? In his last two losses, he seems to have raised his stock more than he has in any win..........:good I think he should hang in there and improve his conditioning, and possibly lose 15 pounds. Then get King pushing to get him another name fight. McCline did too well in his last two fights to let it go, now. :good This content is protected
McCline is a failure. He will always be a failure, he can fight on and beat some bums but when it comes to the top of the division he will always bottle it and be a failure.
He doesn't have the will to become a champion but to say he's a failure is pretty harsh. He started boxing late and really didn't have much of an amateur career. He arguably could have gotten the decision against Byrd and had Sam Peter ready to go last night. Hardly a failure.
I would like to see McCline-Brewster if he can't get a fight right away to put him in another position to win a title.
Jameel and Tina McCline could get together with Chris and Tracy Byrd and make a swing party just to relax and then comeback with other nicknames like Jameel "Blew it all the time" McCline and Chris "TKOed by Klitschko" Byrd
Brewster would be a winable fight over a big name. I sympathize with McCline, he seems like a nice guy who has been a bit of an underachiever although he did lack that spark, during his career.
:good McCline certianly deserves a rematch. But I think there are so many other WBC loose ends that need to be taken care of, first......McCall, Oleg, Vitali. But McCline has improved lately. Anyone has to admit that. The guy has really became effective and can't be called a bum anymore. I think he should qualify for a WBC eliminator fight, at some point in the future.
Competing against the highest level HWs as good as he has he cannot be called a "failure". Anyone calling him a failure is basically like calling yourself an even bigger failure. I don't see anyone her walking around with a belt or beating any pro boxers let alone fighting top HWs. I don't see anyone here with more money than McCline. Sometimes boxing fans make no sense. You guys would get sprawled out on the canvas everytime by a top 100 lightweight.
That won't happen, no chance of Peter risking his belt again against Jameel. A fight against Golota or even Valuev makes sense, high profile bouts that keep him in the conversation for another shot. Last night's loss wasn't devestating and he showed he still has something left.
I'd certainly say he has something left. In fact, he seems to have really improved, lately. I think after his devastating loss to the C level Zuri Lawrence, McCline really recommitted himself, and it shows. He's doing something that is certainly working for him. He followed instruction from his corner about how the uppercut was what Peter was dying to get caught with, and McCline delivered. But if he'll get his stamina improved, and increase his punch output, he'll probably be able to finish the likes of Peter, and possibly beat other top 10 fighters. Get back in there, McCline. You are too close to stop, now. :good
