In your eyes please my friends.:good

His current resume stands as -

Munoz, Navarro, Arce, Lopez, Kawashima x2.

All of these fights except for the first Kawashima were very definitive/dominant performances. His potential crop includes -

Montiel, Donaire, Kirilov, Darchinyan, Mabuza, Sidorenko, Penalosa, Gonzalez etc.

What would he have to do to gain HOF status?

Become the undisputed superflyweight champion, beat everybody thats anybody around his division, and then get a title at Bantam.

Anything else is just legacy points +

You guys need to stop trying to push these issues.

Let the fighters do what they're doing and just enjoy the ride.

Mijares is on the brink of crossing the HOF line, let's just sit back and see what he does in the next couple of years!

Undisputed would be a win over Montiel, the fight is likely this year. Donaire is the next biggest name around the division, even though I consider Montiel a much better fighter.

Bantam crop is Penalosa, Gonzalez, Mabuza, Sidorenko and a few others like Hasegawa.

A reall good lot of fighters.

To tell you the truth, he's already got 6 defences in the bank on his WBC belt, I'd like to see him beat Montiel, defend against Donaire and a few others and get 10-15 defences on that one and then jump up.

10-15 title defences, with more than half being against good opposition, would be a good legacy mark considering how strong the division is.

He's got a good 4 years left of his top ability and probably another 2 after that as a top fighter just with skill/experience alone, I know this, I'm just wanting people's opinion on what additions to his current resume/run would get him into the HOF category, what kind of standards are upheld for a fighter like Mijares.

The most important matchup is Montiel, he'll become undisputed to all intents and purposes

Then I'd like to see him pick up the IBF belt off Kirilov/Darchinyan, its nice to have all the belts and either is a solid victory

Then Donaire seems to be a huge matchup, as hes a big name down there

They are the 3 I'm most concerned about. Then he could make some other solid defences, or move up.

He's got to meet a HOFer somewhere down the road... the only two currently available are Vazquez and Marquez and Mijares is 2 divisions down in weight...

Mijares' already got some good wins, great in his division, but nothing HOF type or extraordinary and very memorable... it's a bit premature IMO to put him even on the P4P10 list (11-12 is just fine) - there are two equally good champions in the division (based on the resume of course - and I must say that the total destruction of Castillo ranks higher for me than any of the big Mijares wins) - so let the battle of the two decide who deserves a place at P4P top 10 (the winner could jump from 11 to 6-8 based on the performance but, that unification is desperetely needed to crack in, I think The Ring and Rafael are both doing wrong rushing it).

HOF? Ams my friend, It's very premature... :good Mijares first needs to be the legitimate champion of his division, so the Montiel fight is definitely needed. Fighting likes of Donaire, Wonjongkam, Naito from down there, possibly Kameda and Banal if they make big noise should be good enough to keep the HOF hopes alive in dominating the division in the lineal/The Ring champ position... but really, he needs to fight Rafael Marquez at BW to take a shortcut towards the HOF status and still got plenty to do if he can win (which I don't see at the moment)... you won't get a HOF status with just good wins...

So, as usual, Mijares needs HUGE names (at least significant ones in a given weight class' history), at least one lineal status, a few years of domination in the division as it's champion and showcasing the skills on the highest level... a dozen packed stadiums, a lot of charisma... and he might make it...

I just LOVE these lower divisions and Mijares' got the tools to do something big... but talking about HOF... well, let's get back to the subject in 5 years buddy!

    See you in 2013! :hi:

beat montiel, donaire, and possibly kirilov, then add a couple more defenses at 115. move up and win a title at 118 and he's got sure-fire hof status.

Nothing in boxing is going on this week, except for Williams-Quintana 2, Pavlik-Lockett, which get enough discussion. What is there to say about either?

And do you really want more fantasy match ups, 'whats your favourite etc' threads?

I'd like to see him KO Doug Tucker as a farewell fight.

He'll be there if he beats Montiel and Donaire in convincing non split decision fashion
