Jhonny Gonzales was way way bigger than Penalosa and hs longer reach kept Gerry from being effectve. It was like the DPL- Penalosa fight. Although Gonzales was winning because of the punches thrown, nothing significant was really connecting. Gnzales was just winning by virtue of being the more active one. If Penalosa is match against someone his size, then you will notice that he is never outboxed. Even the bigger DPL had to do an awkward impersonation of mayweather in the last 4 rounds of the fight.
lol this is like the emperor's new clothes story. everybody wants to ride the "boxing expert" bandwagon and talks their asses out with pure BS.
He needs to regain his form. Like certain other fighters, it seems the weight above is too much for him even against average opposition (I saw little from Cermeno in the 2nd fight that suggests he would beat the likes of Perez, Agbeko and Hasegawa) If he retires tomorrow, at super-fly he remains a difficult H2H proposition for most of the boxers, Watanabe included. He has the correct blend of fluidity, awkwardness and accuracy that mean he wouldn't be cannon fodder for some of the punchers either, I'd certainly think he could outmanouever Khaosai Galaxy, 50-50 fight though IMO due to Galaxys mind-numbing power, though he isn't as awkward and fast as Darchinyan, and lacked the adaptibility/punch variety of his Bantamweight twin. Iron-chinned punchers like Sung-Kil Moon would be kryptonite for him even at his best though. He wouldn't 'do an Arce' on him, that's for sure.
