I always been a fan of Marquez but it seems like EB fans have put the new generations of fighters above him, let's take a look at some facts.

We could agrue that a blown up Marquez at 147 did just as good as a natural 147 mosley did against Floyd. And we can most def say he did better than Hatton against Floyd. So why no respect for marquez who I think will own the 140 class.

First of all I'm one of the people who think the talent at 140 is overrated, yea I know there's a lot of good fighters, but most of them are yet to be proven, and hopefulls. History tells us that only like 3 will rise to the top and the rest will be exposed and will become journey men.

If Hatton dominated the 140 class, and A blown up Marquez did better than him at 147, why then the veteran better skilled Marquez never get mentioned in ya debates?

Floyd Mayweather respected Marquez so much not only did he give him a fight, but he minimized his **** talking showing him he most respect I ever seen on 24/7 , if marquez didn't drink his **** he might of been of the hook. I know a lot of you would say Mayweather was just coming back and wasn't sure of him self, but I don't care about that cause he didn't look rusty t me. Mayweather respected Marquez skills so much he would rather pay a fee than to drain himself and xtra pound to fight Marquez at full 145.

To be honest I can't see Pac doing better than Marquez if they fight, he will use the same distance and reach advantage to pick Pac apart.

Just can't see how the man he fought close fights with Pacman is being overlooked.

    What's ya thoughts?

marquez gets plenty of props around here....at least i think he does...maybe i havent been reading any threads on him lately and am missing something.....hes one of my favorites...floyd could have problem murdered him though...but i think floyd took it easy on the fella....partially because he has respect for him

    1) Hatton didn't dominate 140 at all, he was just the biggest name, mainly because of Brits and their blind faith to throw money behind a c level club fighter.

    2) Marquez gets no props at 140 because he hasn't fought any 140 fighters, maybe if he didn't look like he was getting buzzed and struggling against Juan Diaz people would look at him moving up to 140 differently. Right now I can't see how JMM would be successful against Lamont Peterson, let alone Bradley or Alexander.

    3) As for the Floyd fight I give him props for holding his own initially. I think you could see the chess game being played by him and Floyd and that Floyd actually had to think about things in there with Marquez compared to the Shane fight, but I think he was lucky he fought Floyd at 147, who isn't a big punisher or a tenacious finisher.

Marquez is a ATG/HoF, history will probably regard him higher than Paciaqou when all is said an done, because he actually cleared out the divisions he moved into instead of getting the quick paper title, plus he doesn't have the stench of PEDs on him.

I think Floyd purposely came in overweight as a **** you gesture to emmanuel. It was a symbolic way of saying I'm not going to play that catchweight **** if we fight.

Every time I rewatch Floyd's fight with Marquez I notice $ being slightly moar unpredictable than usual. He never gave Marquez a chance to predict whether it was a jab, left hook, or straight right hand coming next. Floyd would also pivot and switch angles after nearly all of his blows to Marquez.

$ only pushes as hard as he's pushed. That left hook in the 2nd round that floored Marquez was done by one punch only, and it happened after Marquez landed his best shot of the entire night on Floyd. Had Marquez been moar of a threat to Floyd he might have hurt him often.

I remember people saying Marquez was the best counter-puncher and the smartest fighter Floyd is going to fight before the match. It was like how they said Mosley had the best chin and one shot power compared to everyone $ has fought and will fight. Funny how all of anyone's great attributes or skills get taken away the moment they lose to $.

I think Floyd didn't talk as much **** since Marquez isn't the best English speaker.

JMM gets lots of respect from what i've seen. and rightfully so. most people knew he had no chance against floyd, somewhat due to size.

Marquez is awesome..he destroyed pacquiao twice...sent chicken manny running like a coward to 135..[hell even BEFORE that manny ran away for 4 damn years after their 1st encounter] pacquiao fought a nobody in 135 and kept on running while on steroids...

pacfans are just damn RELIEVED that pacroid doesnt have to get his ass kicked by Marquez a 3rd time lmfao..Marquez gets his respect from me.

dont worry pacfans..your coward has OFFICIALLY dodged Marquez..

What exactly did marquez do better than shane? Shane hurt mayweather and won at least 2 rounds to 0 for marquez. Last time i check marquez only landed 12% of his shots against mayweather.

Oh and don't give me this mayweather respect marquez B/S that's why he weigh in at 146 instead of the original agreement of 144 . Everybody knew this was a mismatch from the beginning and floyd was just trying to sell it and tell people that marquez a LW was actually a threat:shock:

Why don't you get your facts straight on who waited 4 years to get a rematch. Who turned down $700K to go to indonesia to fight for $30K then get back to me.

Shane and Hatton at least won a round against Floyd, Marquez didn't. The right Shane landed on Floyd was more damaging too. I am a fan of Marquez but he won no rounds against Floyd and I don't see how he did overall better than Hatton or Shane but he was more aggressive than Mosley. Not that it helped but still.

I say Marquez got lucky that Floyd probably trained 50% and took it easy on him.

He didn't take it easy on him. He was trying to knock him out in the second round for christ's sake. Marquez kept him honest with counter shots.
