when describing a fighter? My definition of a "P4P great fighter" is a boxer who if he were to take the same exact skill, stamina, punch resistance, ring smarts, speed, defense, etc., would be able to go from mini-flyweight to heavyweight and beat all current and/or past champs (or at least have a legitimate shot). Example: JCC :hey Yes, I'm biased. Example of someone who is not: Antonio Margarito. I remember some people were wanting to include him in the P4P rankings after he beat Cotto. I, for one, did not agree with that. Any different opinions out there?
I agree with yours but the what have you done lately factor needs to be included as well in deciding the top guys.
Basically, that's how I take it. Writers starting using it a long time ago for Bob Fitzsimmons, Tony Canzoneri...Ray Robinson made it more popular, and then in the last couple decades it just got way too important.
a p4p great fighter in my eyes is a fighter who shows a level of ability, regardless of weight class, that would be among the 100 best fighters who ever lived.
Get rid of the P4P that **** gets played out too much lately. Just define what a great fighter is to you bottom line. A great fighter is a great fighter this P4P that the media started and people kept perpetuating is stupid. :hat
