What does JMM have to do with anything? When you get to Hatton/Pac/JMM level of fighing, losing a bout does not mean you suddenly stop being an attractive opponent for other top name fighters. However, as per my previous post, Hatton has plenty to lose against Pac, whilst a Pac loss would probably be written off by many as him being too small.

    If he wins...
Undisputed #1 spot. (Trumping both of PBF's (on paper) best wins)

I agree with the thread starter. Check out this thread i made before the fight was signed

basically its all about winning a 4th lineal title for Pacquiao. But beating Hatton in itself is not the greatest accomplishment for a fighter on the level of Pac. He's expected to beat him.

Pac would gain more by beating JMM, Floyd, Shane, or Cotto.

If in the event Pac does win-I think Hatton may be just too big for him-Manny gains the right to listen to Ricky and his fans make several excuses why he lost just like the last time he lost.

Hatton is far and away the toughest opponent Pac has ever faced, I commend him for taking on the challenge but IMO there is little chance he can win this fight.

Of course there is. A lot, in fact. I can't imagine from 140 down who he would get more credit for beating.

Only a fool will say no! Hatton is a belt holder and unbeaten at 140.

    Very good Q!

I would say, eventhough Money May tapped that azz already by KO, PAC is fighting a more dangerous version of Hatton. Why, you ask. Well, Ricky is undefeated @140 and where he reigned and beat the man, Kostya. The Mancurian looks 2 b getting his confidence back and is ready for a speedster in Pacquaio, but understands the Pinoy is coming up in weight and may not perform like he did in the lighter weights. Also, remember RH fought @47 1 time b4 FMJ tapped it and he didn't look to good vs Luis Collazo. I had Collazo winning a close one...Luis almost had Ricky out of there late.

Not a great deal just further improves his resume, its probably the best I know of, over the last 15 years or so.

Also if he wins convincingly( via ko/wide ud) surely the money and public demand would be too much for floyd to ignore, so he can come out of retirement and box pacs head off for 12 rounds.

    What will he gain ???

By beating Hatton Pac can win his fith divisional title at the expense of the man regarded as the top fighter the division. A fifth title that would cement his place in the ATG list.

. . . and of course the money.

What else can you ask for?

if he beats ricky he will have beaten the best two names on floyd's resume (ricky and oscar) but the difference is that he will have moved up more weight than floyd did (147 against oscar and 140 against ricky) to do so... this is the definition of pound for pound
