Honestly why is Povetkin's promoter doing this? Can anyone see Povetkin who is a decent fighter but FAR too small lasting more than 6 rounds against Wlad? Anything more and I'll say he's done well, but surely fighting Chagaev or someone else would have been better or am I missing it completely and can Povetkin pull it off with some special tactic? Seriously, do they reckon Povetkin's stock is gonna rise after this fight? ok he's getting handsomely paid...but after that?
Povetkin has been looking to make this fight for a while now, if you check out his interviews even as early as his 4th or 5th he openly states that he plans to rush out for Wladimir's title, he wanted this fight for a long time. What he gains is the #1 spot as a heavyweight for beating Wladimir. I know it looks like he's being rushed but he still did win the IBF tournament that not many gave him a chance in. He won it fair and square and is now the #1 contender, if he wasn't ready I don't think he would have made it in that tournament, his team know stuff we don't and when they push him for that they know he's ready for this fight. If he loses then that's because Wladimir proved to be better.
What his gone gain is a lot of scar tissue as well as a humbling experience......joking aside, kids got balls for taking this fight so early in his career.
He gains a few things in all earnest: 1-Big fight experience 2-Big fight exposure on HBO 3- The opportunity to put on a good showing and look like a star win or lose 4-The opportunity to potentially upset the #1 HW in the world overnight I feel like it's early...but they his people must know something I don't if they think he's THIS ready for a fight of this magnitude.
money and 2 title belts and if he wins he fights vitali in germany for an amount of money that could buy a small russian town.
Where would Povetkin go? The Klitschkos are after all titles, Vitali will probably face the Valuev-Chagaev winner. Then what? The easier task is Wladimir IMO, so they are going after Wowa. Yes, a few more fights could've done only good to Sacha. But he's not getting any younger, and if loses, what he gains is a great experience vs. the no#2 fighter in the division and can go back for those 3-4 more fights and give a title another try. If he wins, he gains EVERYTHING. Title, fame, recognition, future money fights, HBO contract etc...
Respect, for starters. He could've taken the more conservative route and chased after an easier title fight, but instead did everything with the intention of taking on the top dog in the division even if it's only in his 17th fight (don't forget, he's been chasing this since before Vitali came back). His resume is stellar for a guy with that few fights and for having only turned pro 3 years ago. It's going to be a hell of a fight.
He is fighting for the Heavyweight Championship of the World, one of the most electrifying moments of any season, and if you can't understand that, then you should worry about the Chess Championship of the World... No offense intended but Povetkin will all be muscle, blood and the heart that pumps it when he goes for it.
The question seems to be more like "What does he lose by fighting Wlad?" Nothing it appears, since he's being written off completely by all of you.
Is this in reference to me or the thread starter? It's early for some of us..so if it's in reference to him forgive me
No arriba youre cool....silly ass thread though with obvious answers that you were so kind to highlight for the mongoloid thread starter:yep Cheers
