    Calling all accounting boxing pundits.

People talk about the popularity of British stadium fights but the UK population is around 70 Milion. The US population is 300 million. And their paper views around $70, UK pay-per-view is about 20 or £25.

I suspect Fury and Wilder did very well on the pay-per-view front. But surely any rematch would return the fighters more than any money they could possibly get in the UK. Fury, I think has become a draw in America. And maybe him fighting AJ in America would earn more money than a home-grown fight. And also it would get over the problem of biased judges if they are both British fighters.

I don't really understand the financials but if Tyson Fury fights Anthony Joshua, wouldn't that be less money in the UK? I mean how big a pay-per-view market is there here? How much of the fighters earn 80,000 stadium seats? Compared to the buying audience of the USA?

Depends if money is the primary motivator. I'm not sure searching for top doller is Tyson's goal. But make no mistake he will make sure whatever deal is on the table his worth is 100% represented when it comes to splits etc.

To sum up. No. The money is in the UK. That’s why Wilder and Fury were both entertaining the rematch (to an extent) in the UK.

Boxing is on a strange downward spiral in the US. The UK might be less per PPV but the sales numbers are impressive.

I think Joshua/Fury vs Wilder takes place in the UK next and it goes without saying that Joshua v Fury takes place at Wembley.
