I was floored when I saw this thread had been bumped again. Well I think I was floored? May have to read through the 130 pages to be sure that's what it was.
Legend has it @MichiganWarrior is still watching the last minute of Round 7 of Pascal vs. Pittman (around 24:45 into this video) to find a justification for using the figurative sense of "floored" in the context of a boxing match where that is very explicitly part of the lingo in a very literal sense. This content is protected MW's own personal Groundhog Day.
On your back with your arms stretched out. You could be knocked out or knocked down and still be floored but the meaning is in the name, "floored". So you can't be standing and be floored. That could be "rocked", "stunned" "dazed" etc.
I'm not sure how readily available all these fights were on YouTube back when this thread started, but I remember as soon as he said to me Pascal had been floored I knew he hadn't watched the fight. Stunned, wobbled, lit up, shaky legs all of those applicable, but floored, never. I was quite a big fan of Pascal back in the day.
I think you can fairly say that Jean was "floored" figuratively (as in surprised, "blown away" etc) by the sudden strength in Omar's left hook - but that clearly can't have been what MW meant when pretending to have seen the fight. He ought to have known better that when you're talking boxing and say floored, it is literal, always.
He definitely meant dropped at the time, before later backtracking in the most embarrassing way this site has ever seen!
He actually had a couple of clowns backing him in the day. I remember there being a poll attached to this.
