"I was floored by your piece on the plight of immigrant workers in the low farmlands. it really opened my eyes and blew me away"- stunned. Overwhelmed. "I clocked the guy in the jaw and he hit the ground instantly. Boom. Floored him." atsch
yes i get sometimes people can use that definition, but surely this stems from the shock of being on the floor in the first place. just ask yourself this, if you hear a commentator say "he floored him with a huge right hand" what does your mind picture.
As far as when used in regards to boxing, it absolutely means he got knocked to the ground. I'm really in 100% agreement with you limeys. I was trying to show examples of how it's used and hope that maybe something would click.lol.
It did. Even the stunned/overwhelmed example you used, it was used figuratively rather than being literally stunned/dazed as Michigan implied. Maybe Michigan is using some sort of different language we arent aware off, michigan thugs roll deep style.
Floored obviosly means when someone puts you on the floor. I've never seen anyone, American or otherwise, use the term in a different way.
you would think everyone would agree, but a particualr poster called me stupid and dumb for suggesting pascal did not get floored in the pittman fight, a fight he hadnt seen when he made that comment by the way. after watching the fight he tried pulling this **** about how he uses the word floored when a boxer stuns another. i.e. he believes corley floored mayweather in their fight.
So MichiganWarrior believes that being hit and stunned standing up, even if you're able to hold on, means you're "floored"?. What is that guy eating and drinking lately?
ye he does. he said that pittman floored pascal many times, but he had never seen the fight. when i called him on this he said he decided to watch it and said something like "pittman had him hurt/holding on i.e. floored" and he then went on to say that demarcus corley has floored floyd mayweather and other stupid examples.
