What does the winner of Ward - Kovalev need to do to match Floyd/Pacquiao?

Lets just completely gloss over pac's weightdraining, blatant juicing and getting the big names when they were all old or coming off huge loses shall we

All Kovalev would have to do is clean out 175 at their natural weight and pass proper testing

Of course in the eyes of casuals, absolutely nothing some unknown Russian does from now on (including cleaning up HW) will ever remotely compare with these two immortals

Oh, I've only just read this thread properly.

Pacquiao is around 15th Greatest. Mayweather around 38th Greatest.
For Ward to be greater than Mayweather, he'd have to have this resume:
    HW
    Any belt holder i.e Parker
    200
    W Glowacki
    W Gassiev
    W Lebedev
    175
    W Kovalev
    W Beterbiev
    W Stevenson
    W Gvozdyk
    168
    W Froch
    W Kessler
    W Abraham
    W Dawson
    W Barrera
    W Biika

    Very attainable for Ward IMO.

All boxers do weightdraining, Kovalev included. Barrera was not old and was not "coming off huge losses", Bradley was not old and was not coming off huge losses, Cotto was just coming off a bing win against Clottey and he went to avenge his "huge loss" against Margarito subsequently, etc. Pac has beaten the odds multiple times, contrary to the expectations of almost everybody, including myself. Do not underestimate this resume or, if you do, point to a better one.

I agree that one victory does not make a career. But having a signature win goes a long way for your legacy.

Imagine Hagler without the Hearns destruction. His career would have been incomplete. He may not have even reach ATG status.

Please stick to the topic .. we're talking about what Ward / Kovalev need to do to be an ATG like both Floyd and Pac are. What's your opinion?

Barrera was 29 and 33 when Pac beat him and had a ring age of 14 years old. Which is old. Bradley was 30 when Pac beat him. Cotto struggled against Clottey and was drained to a catchweight. He didn't avenge his "huge loss" until 2 years later...at light middleweight.

Well... clear out 175. Each other and Beterbiev. And possibly some other monster Russian i've not heard of. That would be enough for me

Your failure to even explain what is wrong with it demonstrates that you don't know what is wrong with it. Why do you even waste your and everyone else's time by posting such an empty comment as this?

I kept it short and simple. Why explain the obvious? Everybody respects Pacquiaos wins over Cotto and Barrera. Those are the 2 wins even Floyd nut huggers don't even dare try and critique.

The Cotto win gets the whole "Cotto was drained thing". Which has been debunked over and over and over again by Cotto himself.

Why explain the obvious? You're making me do it now.
