Andre Ward = undisputed; he has cleaned the division of all top challengers en route to unifying belts. Sergio Martinez = undisputed; he has beaten a high amount of top quality challengers AFTER he won the lineal middleweight title from a legit champion. Yoan Pablo Hernandez = disputed; a real case could be made that The Ring messed up badly by pretending #1 ranked CW Huck didn't exist by booting him from rankings after his one fight at HW, despite higher profile fighters keeping their rankings in multiple divisions much longer. Wladimir Klitschko = disputed; a real case could be made that Vitali has always been better, and that each of them have avoided fighting the real true challenger for half a decade.
maybe because he beat the **** out of the guy who beat the **** out of the guy who beat the undisputed champion Hopkins? but its just a thought....
since the early 90's i always thought undisputed meant having all the belts. now i think the wbc, wba and ring belts make you the man. but to me all the belts are undisputed champ.
That line is as clear as one gets. As been said in this thread, Hopkins held all 4 titles....which passed to Taylor (who got stripped of the IBF and WBA somewhere)....which passed to Pavlik (WBC and WBO still intact).....which passed to Sergio.....which pisses me off when HBO refers to him as former Champ when talking about Jr. :yep
