Valuev is protected and has lost more than his record shows. So him being champion is very misleading and isn't a reflection on the stratus of HW today. Either Klitschko and many others would kill both of them. The HW division isn't great, but I think it's extremely overrated how bad it's suppose to me.

Pathetic. This is why boxing has so few fans.

not very much. neither of these fighters are top ten HWs. having valuev as hw champ makes the wba look like a joke.

Valuev's career and standing is basically destroyed as good as if Holyfield had won the fight anyway.

He's a paper champ, didn't even beat the former holder to win it.

This fight didnt change my opinion on the division, it's been garbage since Lewis retired back in 03.

As for Valuev, he's a top 5 heavyweight on any top 10 Heavyweight list, the division is just that bad, it's pretty sad when a guy 15 years out of his true prime can come in at the age of 46 and almost beat the 3rd best Heavyweight in the world.

I told my brother the same thing. I have tried to defend the Heavyweight Division the last few years but after today no more. It was a total disgrace.

Heavyweight champions are fine athletes... well, except Valuev

The Klitschkos, Chagaev and a few other prospects are actually quite good.:good

It also shows that newer and size doesn't always equal a win (or agreed upon win)

I agree to an extent, Chagaev hasnt had a quality fight/win since beating Valuev in April of 07, and even his best victories are by majority or split decision, over guys that aren't exactly world beaters, in Virchis and Ruiz. On top of that, he has been inactive for the better part of a year, and has cancelled big fights in 07/08 for odd reasons.

Other than Haye, what prospect is really that good? Povetkin is decent, but far from world class, which will all see when it comes time to fight Wlad in 09. The Klits are all we have, and even they aren't anything to write home about, Vitali has one fight in 4 years, Wlad's last 3 oppenents sucked, especially the last 2, so it's hard to judge him on those two wins.

The division looks horrible, from the top to the bottom IMO.
