The news of Fury signing with Top Rank / ESPN puts a big question mark over the Wilder rematch. It sounds as if Fury will be headlining TR shows and in Warren's words, 'anyone that wants to fight him will have to come to us'. AJ has the number one position and will continue to do his own thing with DAZN and rake it in. I don't think this effects him anywhere near as much as it does Wilder. What does Wilder do? Should he rush to make the fight with Breazeale before Whyte seals that? Who else can he fight?
Him and his fans are guna look foolish should they go for breazeale as there was a large number of people predicting that's what would happen in the end after ignoring chances at unbisputed.
I hope Deontay gets a nice soft voluntary defence now. Give him the Gerald Washington rematch. Whyte and Brezeale are preoccupied, lol.
Breazeales has a 90% K.O record. Trust me when I tell you Wilder doesn't want that fight and won't fight Breazeale unless it's forced on him , he ain't rushing anything against someone who can punch while generating far less money added knowing that guy wants to take his head off and Wilder S chin won't hold up if Breazeales does connect solidly. He'll target a smaller guy that even more hittable like Kownacki or someone no one's heard of that pops in the top 10.
Wilder doesn't have an exclusive deal with Showtime he can fight on ESPN or DAZN next if he wants to. But will he want to fight Fury on a genuinely co-promoted show with Haymon/Finkel and Arum/Warren where he's less likely to have the officiating be bias in his favour. If Wilder is not afraid to fight Fury with the judges and ref in his pocket the rematch happens as he has nothing contractually preventing him from fighting on ESPN.
Good Points, I think that is one of the reasons Fury made this move... he needed some kind protection from bias officiating.
Take the Fury fight to purse bid and outbid them if they want it on showtime. If Wilder's team wins the bid and Fury wont leave espn thats on him, clearly he wouldn't want the title. If Fury's team wins the bid just fight on espn.
