I never believed that Fury wanted the rematch. I think in his mind he already took care of Wilder (which, actually, he did) and now can probably make alot of money fighting whomever he wants, with less risk.

So disappointing to see this stacked division once again sliding back into political bull*****.

Wilder should just go ahead and fight Fury on ESPN. If they're prepared to guarantee Fury £16m a fight, they would surely be willing to guarantee Wilder at least £16m to fight Fury. Significantly more than either made in the first fight.

I don't think it's that simple sadly. Taking espn's money destroys the relationship with showtime, who appRently say they have the rights to the rematch. It could get very messy and given that Haymon has other fights he needs to get on ST he won't want to jeopardise that relationship for one fight.

Might be missing something but could Fury have just tried to checkmate Wilder. In that he’s been called as mandatory. Wilder has started mentioning Breazeale etc. But if Fury takes this to pursebids and ESPN win Wilder has no choice where he goes next or he has to vacate. Fury now holds the cards to Wilders next fight.

The relationship between Wilder/PBC/Haymon and Showtime should work both ways. If Wilder has to choose between $20m+ to fight Fury on ESPN, or a lesser opponent (i.e. Breazeale) on Showtime for around $2m, he would be foolish to take the Showtime option. Of his last 7 fights, Showtime have aired 4 of them. So they clearly haven't got a problem with him fighting on other networks. A fight with Fury on ESPN should be no different.

Yep he has levelled the playing field given he won the first fight.

Smart move by Fury's team but the question will be does Wilder want it on a level playing field???

Wilder didn't really want the rematch with Fury, or the fight would have been signed weeks ago.

He'll probably face another shot boxer next, someone like Arreola, Stiverne or Lyakhovich.

To be honest, the only person I see claiming that Showtime have the rights to the rematch is you. I have looked around to see any mention of Showtime having the rights and I couldn't find any. It doesn't make any sense either. Showtime have only dealt with Wilder on a fight-by-fight basis. It's out of character for Showtime to then purchase the exclusive rights to a rematch that wasn't even guaranteed.

If Fury and AJ fights aren't available to Wilder, he is in deep trouble. A Big Dom fight isn't nearly as tough as some people are making it out, but it won't get him more than a 2-4 mil at most. More importantly, he's at an age where he really can't afford to be wasting time on fighters like Dom when AJ and Fury are around. I really hope this doesn't screw up the Fury rematch, it would be a shame if these three HW's don't fight each other in their prime to a somewhat definitive conclusion.

Ah, ok. Looking at that, it seems that there is already a dispute between Showtime and Finkel as to whether Showtime actually have the rights to the rematch. If they do, and both Fury and Wilder signed contracts to that effect, then Wilder can still get the Fury fight on Showtime.

He just has to convince Showtime to put up more money to get Fury to sign.
