Top 5, 10, 15 or whatever have you, what does it look like with the last few weekend's worth of boxing?
Before you shout at me, I'll say quick that I haven't seen any of this weekend's fights yet. Well, I've seen Gassiev, but that's it. With that in mind, here I go: For me, the top three names are clear but interchangeable. Usyk, Inoue and Canelo should all be top three, especially now that Lomachenko has lost. After that it gets a bit diluted, and TBH, IMO, unimpressive. Spence, Crawford, Lopez and Lomachenko could all come in the top five, but I refuse to include someone coming straight off a loss, and I refuse to believe that Lopez is a better fighter than the likes of Pacqiuao, Beterbeiv, Garcia &c. Then having Spence top five feels a bit wrong, but hey-ho, what can you do. Spence and Crawford for me at four and five. At number six, I'm putting Estrada. Looks great, excellent résumé, top of his division and just given us a great fight. Taylor at seven, for similar reasons, but I can see him higher. Briedis belongs in this final, 8-10 bracket, and I think he's the best of them. Rungvisai is number nine, he's back in winning ways and has an awesome résumé. When he's back fighting ranked fighters, we'll see him atop his division again, I think he'll stop both JFE & Chocolatito in rubber matches. And that brings up to the biggest quandary here: Teofimo Lopez. I have no idea how to get to grips with this kid. I think he's definitely shown himself elite, after all, he did beat a top three P4P fighter. But was it a fluke? Will he win the rematch? Is he that good? For me, he's not and will lose the rematch. But that said, he did still beat Lomachenko, so here he is. #01. Naoya Inoue #02. Oleksandr Usyk #03. Canelo Alverez #04. Errol Spence Jr. #05. Terrence Crawford #06. Juan Francisco Estrada #07. Josh Taylor #08. Mairis Briedis #09. Teofimo Lopez #10. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai
Fair enough. In my name's I had left over (basically ones which would go between 11-15), those two were right there. With Manny Pac, Mikey Garcia and Vasyl Lomachenko.
i'm starting to be a skeptic about P4P ranking but since you asked: 1. Inoue 2. Crawford 3. Canelo 4. Estrada 5. Spence 6. Lopez 7. Loma 8. SSR 9. Usyk 10. Davis
Probably Inoue at 1. He’s dealing with good fighters the way elite fighters should. I got Usyk at 2. Canelo at 3. Crawford at 4. And then I don’t know. And I’m not even sure if that 4.
1. Canelo. 2. Crawford. 3. Inoue. 4. Usyk. 5. Lopez. 6. Estrada. 7. Lomachenko. 8. Spence. 9. Taylor. 10. Rungvisai.
I like Inoue at #1. P4P is about whipping the competition and he keeps delivering. I think he becomes the clear cut #1 in 2021. Crawford #2. Defeating a damaged Kell Brook is not going to do much for his legacy. Already 33. It's like watching a soufflé miserably deflate. Canelo #3. Set to have zero fights this year. Great resume but highly debatable. He's never been the clear cut #1. Usyk #4. A threat at heavyweight. Estrada or Lopez around #5-6. Gallo doesn't get enough credit - (smaller fighter, no surprises there). Taylor, Lomachenko, Fury and Davis...have at it. *Spence is lucky to be alive. Got to see how he looks first.
I need to see fighters prove their worth against world class opposition their own size or opponents who hold significant physical advantages over them not beat up on naturally smaller ones who they hold all the physical advantages over. And I also place value on fighters proving their worth against punchers their own size too because it's much easier to be dominant against naturally smaller opponents who can't punch or are merely average punchers than it is to beat ones your own size who can take your head off if you make one mistake. Usyk has fought a ridiculous amount of punchers in his last 9 fights and not once has he come close to hitting the canvas and he fought them all in their backyards too, whereas, conversely, some of his celebrated fellow P4P top 10 ranked peers have barely fought any, let alone ones the same size as them in their backyards and on the few occasions they have they've either hit the canvas or been hurt. Being a road warrior gets you extra ranking points too because obviously your chance of losing when you take to the road, whether by hook or by crook, is that much greater.
Inoue #1 ? He's recently biggest win was a shot old Nonaire, USyk hasn't done to much at HW, wake me up when he beats a Fury, AJ or at least Wilder, just my opinion.
1. Fury Hasn't changed for 5 years Meanwhile your lists change every other weekend Crawford retires tomorrow he is forgotten about as the biggest underachiever next to Mike Tyson. Skills pay the bills but fights earn your rights to be named as an ATG fighter. Crawfish ain't done it.
