Was Angulo really past his best? He looked extremely good vs Lara.
Of course those two back to back beatings definitely ruined the dog.

And when was Kirkland even in his prime? Not that it even matters.
Got flattened by my boy Ishida but then went on to snatch his career best wins in Angulo, Tapia and that dubious DQ over Molina.
*Forgot about Joel Julio when Kirkland was a bit younger.

IMO Cotto beat Canelo even though he was past his prime. I watched the fight many times and every time I did I thought the same.

Imo, Kirkland was clearly at his best in 08 and 09, when he was active, in his late mid 20's, and was with wolfe.

The Canelo fight was something like 3 and a half or 4 years after the Molina and Angulo fights... which is significant, with Kirkland actually going into that fight having only fought once in over 3 years, while also having split ways with Wolfe, and had a complete novice unknown as a coach.

Imo, he was quite clearly past his best in the Canelo fight.

He faced Liam Smith in his prime and Matthew Hatton. Why have people forgot about this!

Damn, I completely forgot that there was such a long gap in time there.

you mean world title class, not elite.

elite is above that, outside floyd he has not faced a true elite.

Because they are so infatuated with putting down GGG anyway they can. They know it looks bad that a past prime GGG beat Canelo! ;)

    I would say Floyd.

PBF might not be young anymore when he faced Canelo, but he did take great care of his body and fitnesses. And the sharpness of boxing experience, knowledge and technical level was in peak at this time.

Only people blinded by hate would claim a visibly slowed down and technically regressed Golovkin was in his prime at age 35.

There was one person that said Golovkin was never fast and then after being shown an amateur Golovkin he was like okay he was fast but amateurs don't matter. Lol.

Then if you bring up 28 year old Golovkin beating up a young Canelo in sparring they would claim but Canelo was too young!! But if you bring up GGG being past prime they go "age doesn't matter!! He's still in his prime!"

Do you even know what prime is? I see a lot of you confuse prime with peak.

Lara was absolutely prime and undefeated when Canelo fought him. The Williams "Loss" is an atrocity

I can't believe people actually think Lara beat Canelo. Sorry, but the man was on his bike for half the fight.

Man you guys are pure haters..
At 154 dude beat Trout #1JMW WBA titlist
    Lara #1 JMW WBA Champ
Smith top 5 JMW WBO Champ
    Fought Mayweather #1JMW WBC Champ
160 he's beat Cotto* Lineal & WBC MW Champ
    GGG II #1MW top 10 P4P WBA,WBC Champ
    Jacobs #3MW IBF Champ
And drew with GGG I who was WBA,WBC,IBF* Champ
168 beat Smith top 7SMW WBA Titilist
And is fighting Kovalev top 3/4 LHW and WBO Champ.

Close fight or not there is no fighter as decorated as Canelo right now, you GGG groupies need to get serious.
