I dont think pavlik is an elite fighter. A Good fighter, but he not elite IMO, not yet
So are you dudes saying to me by a fighter holding a championship belt, that automatically makes him elite?:huh
B/C that seems to be your defense

    Kelly Pavlik and Miguel Cotto

Bob Arum and Top Rank keep these two fighting often. Once in the early part of the year (Zertuche, Urkal), once in the middle (Miranda, Judah), and once in the forth quarter (Taylor, Mosley). Great management on their part.

Cotto will most likely fight 3 times in 2008 again.

    Mandatory in February or March.

    Margarito or DLH in June.

    Mayweather/Hatton winner in November.

Of course if we lived about 80 or 90 years ago, we wouldn't be talking about and praising Pavlik and Cotto's 3 fights a year. Rather, Harry Greb's 37 fights in a year. How times have changed...

So when Carlos Baldomir was champ at 147 he was an elite fighter then. B.c he was welterweight champ of the world?

Jermain Taylor was elite as well?

    SO lets speak hypothetically
Say if Joe Calzaghe was fighting Jaidon, and Jaidon caught him with a hard shot and knocked him out. And too Cazaghe's belts. He is now recognized as the Undisputed Supermiddleweight champ of the world. WOuld you consider him an elite fighter? Based on what your saying

elite fighters dont struggle against 154 pounders. Zab Judah KO corey spinks, corey comes up 2 160, your th champ your bigger stronger than him, more confortable at the weight and u cant KO him. You dam near lose ya last 3 fights, and some people even question you winning the Middleweight belt in the 1 st place.
Please get off Pavlik nuts, im no hater, i gave props 2 pavlik, point blank hes not elite not yet. It took you almost an hour to come back with thats formulated bull****.
point blank by holding a title doesnt make u elite

no ******, your missing the context of what was being discussed, the arguement was if you are a title holder does that make u elite? stay with me b/c it seems that you cant read.
Baldomir had a belt after he beat Zab right?:nod
so does him having a belt makes him elite? is the arguement
Hope I didnt lose you this time

I'd definitely say they are elite. Pavlik is an elite middleweight and Cotto is a P4P guy.

Well I won't argue with that because that's your honest opinion . . . but I have mine.

Cotto has only Mosley as the biggest name in his resume and Pavlik has Taylor . . . and for me that's not enough.

If they both hang in there for maybe another two years and defend their titles against some more big names then I'll call them elite.
