It's mainly just on the General that this has happened. It's just descended into extraordinarily biased 'fans' bashing each other continuously the majority of the time.
Though I try to be objective when I post, I must confess that considering the history of boxing and how much science there really is in every win and loss, I don't know sh*t about boxing. But, then again, neither do a LOT of users on here, with very few exceptions.
its perfectly fine to not know much about boxing but still be a fan and try to learn more. The problem is people who don't know **** about the sport but think they are experts.
Sad. I guess these types of arguments always land on deaf ears. Those who appreciate the sport will get it, those who do not never will.
People just don't know when to shut their mouth. We live in a world full of reality TV fed bull**** where people are made to think their opinion is important and that nobody is above them. Call me negative but most people love the drama, not the sport.
Better than the pretentious douchebags who tell anyone with a differing opinion that they're "not a real fan" or "they don't understand", as if being a boxing fan is some exclusive club you must earn your way into.
I have not problems with a fanboy hyping their guy. What sucks about boxing is and need to downgrade other boxers accomplishment. Everybody is guilty of this.
My guess is that if boxing message boards were around decades ago, there would've been the same type of **** we see today. "**** Hagler, Leonard beat Hearns first, Hagler looked bad against Roldan" "Leonard retired to duck the quality welterweight and junior middleweight fighters, he's a coward" "You're a Ray-****"
Two things drew me to the sport of boxing. 1. The drama. I was amazed to hear the heartbreaking and passionate stories behind countless fighters who gave their all in the sport as incredibly formidable human beings. I am constantly in awe at the sheer heart it takes to fight. 2. The technical aspects. There are countless ways to use your two hands, heart, and brain to dominate your opponent. Developing a style unique to your own physical and mental makeup and bringing it with you into the ring against another man equally as unique. What can be better than two men trying to outsmart, outfight, and dominate each other, trying to prove the legitimacy of their existence, with every fiber of their being? Best sport in the world.
