What exactly does Pavlik bring that Calzaghe hasn't dealt with before?

Kessler isn't a better puncher than Pavlik. I don't even think it's close. Harder? Perhaps but he isn't the better puncher. And Kessler's workrate isn't as good. Against the human heavy bag, Librado Andrade, Kessler threw 200 less punches than Pavlik usually averages against good movers.

He still spends the majority of the fights coming forward. You can be an agressive counter puncher. Alexis Arguello was a fine counter puncher yet the aggresor in many of his fights.

All the Americans think Pavlik has superhuman power that JC has never felt before. Deluded! BHOP only caught JC off balance with a flash knock-down. JC was never hurt!

Exactly. I can't even believe people would say anything about Kessler in relation to Pavlik, you can't even compare the two. :patsch

I find that very hard to believe. As I'm sure Kessler threw over 1,000 punches in that fight.

 I'm one of the few from these shores who isn't completely biased.
I've spoken to Reid himself and he admits he didn't have good power. I couldn't care less if Eubank did put Watson in a coma. Light punchers are often the ones who inflict such damage, as the opponent absorbs too many punches. BoxRec doesn't tell the true story. Lacy never landed a good punch and again, I'm saying Pavlik is a better pucher than Kessler, not a harder one.

No he did not. Librado Andrade threw almost 1,000 against, who threw Kessler - under 900. Calzaghe had thrown over 1,000 against Kessler while Kessler "kept up" with 585 (according to Compubox). Kessler is not in the same league as Pavlik in workrate as Pavlik not only throws but commits to his punches more than Kessler.

Yep, spot on. Kessler fights in spurts too often against good fighters. The Andrade stats are above average for him.

Kessler had shown good foot movement and defense against Librado Andrade. He was not impressive against Andrade in the power category (although Andrade is iron jawed).

That's a bit of an insult to all of Calzaghe's opponents

I think it's hard for anyone to look impressive power-wise against Andrade. I read something from shortly after the Chuvalo/Foreman fight and certain people were doubting Foreman's power. Some chins can not be cracked.
