What exactly does Pavlik bring that Calzaghe hasn't dealt with before?

Kelly has Kessler's size, Lacy's power, Calzaghes workrate, and has stamina that is almost unmatched. Calzaghe hasn't fought a fighter that had ALL of those attributes.

Youth...strength...focus...desire...game plan...excellent skills...timing. His main attribute is his ability to punch straight and connect at the end of his punch.

Personally? I think Kelly will be 'the one around the corner' for JC, that ultimately ends every boxer's unbeaten record. If not? Then Joe would be a better fighter than I currently give him credit for.

    Just my opinion!

He doesn't have Kessler's size, power yes maybe, not that i disagree with Pavlik being in for a good shot but this is just misinformation. I hope Kessler can get over the Calzaghe loss well because imo hes highly underrated.

I think Pavlik brings a high workrate and determination to the fight. Calzaghe won't stop him, so Calzaghe is really going to have to outland him to win the fight which might not be so easy. Going to be a great fight nonetheless, i felt frustrated watching Hopkins fight Calzaghe cause it just didn't look like Bhop wanted the win, though JC has that affect on a lot of boxers.

The fight better happen because either way its going to be absolutely great.

extremely heavy hands, punches that may not knock you out in one shot but that will wear you out quickly and hurt even if they land on your arms. Unfortunately for PAvlik, Joe is more of a mover than a blocker

For the Calzaghe lovers the Lacy/Calzaghe fight is basically porn. :-(

Lacy was ****. The Lacy that fought slappy gets Miranda-ed by Pavlik.

Pavlik is more than anything slappy has ever faced.

Bigger, stronger, giant fists, relentless power puncher, great chin, solid defense, great power jab, long reach, smart,.............

Calzaghe is going to get the **** beat out of him by Pavlik.

I see Enzo throwing in the towel on this one just like in the Lockett fight.

Slappy simply has nothing to offer Kelly as a threat. He wont be able to keep Kelly off him. :happy

It's an overall package of height, reach, strength, power, tenacity, youth, experience and intelligence.

The Eubank stoppage of Watson was nothing to do with absording too many light punches. It was a single punch that turned the fight from Eubank being floored to Watson's career - and very nearly life - being over. It was a monsterous punch, the single most brutal punch I've seen at SMW.

Honestly, it's just impossible to predict Pavlik's punching power and damage behind his punches at 168, vs. a legitimate SMW... Vs. Taylor at a catch-weight (164 and Taylor never was a SMW), Pavlik never came close to a stoppage, in fact, he came close to lose to a more focused Jermain, but did enough to get the decision. But still, it's hard to predict how big damage can he bring to SMW, vs. a natural 168-er... and don't expect a catch-weight here...

    Thanks a lot, man :good
 Spot on. There is no reason for comparison there.
Calzaghe has no chance of stopping Pavlik. It couldn't happen. Calzaghe hits too soft and Pavlik has too good of a chin. The only problems Pavlik will have from Calzaghe's punches are when his vision is obscured. They'll bounce off his head.
If you had anything decent to say, you'd prove me wrong instead of resorting to some smarmy line :good
My point was related to that guys opinion that you must be a hard puncher to put an opponent into a coma, which I don't think is nessecarily true. I don't disagree with your analysis of the Eubank/Watson fight.

Something I have been thinking about recently with regards to this prospective fight. If Calzaghe decides that this is to be his last Hoorah and there will be no more aftwerwards, then maybe, just maybe with nothing esle to prepare for and with his whole life to recover he will step back in time and really sit down on his punches , something that he has been unable to do for the past 6 or 7 years due to brittle hands. if He does that, Kelly may find himself out of there pretty quickly and what a suprise that would be because Joe could really bang b4 his hand problems. I watched a lot of his early fights live and he had the kind of power mentioned earlier in this post that really made an opponent take notice

He hurt him in the 11th and estimated he needed about 15 to 20 more seconds and it would have ended.

I think Pavlik is over hyped but I can see pavlik carring the extra weigh well which will only increase his power. Pavlik Imo has more than enough to trouble JC. I f this happens it should make for a great fight.

He was planning on sitting on them vs Hopkins but that went out the window in the first few rounds, stylistically wrong,
As you say if he does Pavlik gonna have problems cause Joe can bang, anybody who can sit Eubank on his arse at any point has got pop.

I agree, i too think he gonna sit down on them more and if he mixes it up we could see a boxing lesson for Kelly with Kel on his arse by the end.....

    Good post tho :good
