I like Shane and all, but I think he is vastly overrated. What has he done in his career that makes him so great?

Before he burst into the spotlight by beating De La Hoya in their first fight, who noteworthy had he been against? Calling Jesse James Leija "noteworthy" might be a stretch. So, after he beat De La Hoya, he fought three scrubs in a row, then got beat twice in a row by Vernon Forrest. He fought a no-contest, then fought De La Hoya again, this time getting a gift decision. That was in 2003. Since then, what has he done that is so spectacular? He lost to Winky Wright twice in a row, looked like **** against Estrada, Cruz, and Mayorga, was actually losing against Vargas in their first fight, got beat by Cotto...

...and through all that, it came to light that he was using steroids, something people seem to be turning a blind eye to. Margarito was the first guy he looked spectacular against in at least six or seven years, and now, despite going over a year without fighting, people act like he is one of the greatest just because of the Margarito fight.

SHANE MOSLEY = nice guy but OVERRATED!!!!!

He's not overrated. You are oversimplifying his career.

Watch his fights, follow the path of his career, and you'll understand his greatness.

Anybody Floyd fights is a walkover in these guy's eyes. However Manny somehow is a warrior by beating drained and shot fighters at catchweights. It never ceases to amaze me.

Yes SSM is overrated. He is not a top ten P4P fighter by any strech. Floyd will beat him. He is a B fighter below Cotto, Pacman and Mayweather in the WW divison (if you can call Pacman a WW).

That said he is a top WW and one of the best fights available to Floyd - who, and lets be honest here, is a level above most fighters and I think Pacman is the only serious challange out there for him.

Unbeaten Champ at lightweight , jumps two divisions and beats the best welter on the planet , yes he has been beaten , but he has tested himself , unlike some welters today.

Because the TS is a noted, bandwagon *******. However you make a point. This is about Shane, a former p4p King whom the TS thinks is overrated.

Mosley is a great fighter, but hell yes he gets overrated.

What made Mosley great was being the first person to truly beat a prime Oscar De La Hoya.

Remove DLH's name and his resume is really good, but not great.

totally dismantling Antonio Margarito , a guy no one wanted any part of, especially Mayweather....the fact he did lose to winky and forrest, guys who were by far naturally bigger than him...i give a guy like that more credit than guys who take no risks their entire career

This thread was never about Pacquiao, but since you brought it up...drained, shot, whatever...Mosley's resume is nowhere near the level of Pac's. One thing Pac definitely hasn't done is lose twice in a row...twice. And, he didn't lose to Miguel Cotto or (technically, in Shane's case) Oscar De La Hoya.

TS is a Pac fan but hardly a Floyd hater and he's always been consistent with his arguments, look at the Floyd lovers getting their panties in a bunch. I know where he's coming from with this. And yes Mosley is overrated in general in ESB imo too, as much as I'm a fan of him (I don't have to think a fighter is the absolute best of the best to be a fan).

But most fighters tend to get overrated or underrated depending on who you ask anyway. Mosley's biggest challenges at welter have been Vernon, Cotto, DLH, and Margarito, he beat 2 lost to 2, I think he's overrated not really on skill but resume wise at 147 specially, mostly because he hasn't had the opportunity to prove himself against more top welters.

I'm sure this thread would have been made had Floyd not been fighting him.

If the Berto fight was still on, he'd still be recognized #1 in the division by most posters.

Also, on topic, Mosley is certainly not over-rated, you're just making it sound bad, I could do that with ANY boxer. Undefeated at lightweight, stepping up to fight the best in the division and winning. Forrest and Winky had his number, but he wasn't afraid to give them rematches either. Fought the best available, certainly.
