Exactly! And what has he done after that? Aside from beating Margarito, NOTHING!

    Just as a reminder....

4 out of mosleys 5 losses came against two guys.

Those two guys would beat about 90% of the welterweights from the last 15 years that you could name.... and who most wouldnt care to fight in the first place. So to be honest i dont really care about those losses... they dont define mosleys career.

He completely dominated collazo.... whos was almost even with hatton and berto.

But i do see what your saying, and in a small sense i agree hes a tad overrated, but the guy is an elite fighter any way you slice it imo.... and just for recent history it was shown by completely completey dominating and outclassing collazo, something hatton and berto couldnt do, and completely destroying margarito, something paul williams, clottey, cotto, cintronx2 couldnt do.

Its more then the numbers and records and whatnnot, you gotta see them in action and be able to tell the quality from that as well....

You can pick apart ANY FIGHTERS resume to a less impressive base.... and i will be interested in seeing how margarito fares from here on out (if marg comes back strong... makes mosley look even better)

but at any rate... i agree with you i think mosley gets a tad overrated, and held in high regard because in a way hes becoming a relic from past eras, but even so... the guy is a top fighter, an elite.... and is still out there proving himself against top tier fighters.

That's true and I agree with that. Which is why I say Mosley is mostly overrated resume wise and not skill wise. He beat DLH and Margarito. Then it also depends on how high you rate Marg. However he absolutely demolished him, and made a statement. **** I think, all them, Pac, Mosley and Floyd are overrated a Welter!. And Mosley has the best win at welter probably, but that was ages ago against a prime fishnets.

    exactly
mosley loses to winky 2times and forrest 2 times
mosley also has wins against guys mayweather wouldnt think about about fighting in Margarito

2 guys mayweather wouldnt even think about fighting

so mayweather has a nice pretty record, but has more average joes than forrest, winky, margarito caliber guys

Dominated LW and then moved up to beat one of the toughest WW's ever head-to-head to beat in an amazing fight. That right there is enough to be called great and ....but to cement his claim for greatness 9 years after...9 years! after moving up to beat Oscar at WW, he demolished another #1 WW in Margarito.

You said it best...Mosley is overrated resume wise, not skill-wise. Yes, he is very talented, but his resume is extremely weak.

Oh, no, no no...don't get me wrong. I am NOT dis-crediting Shane's skills in the ring, and I am definitely not calling him overrated just because Mayweather is fighting him. That makes no sense, and I didn't look at it like that. Mosley is a dangerous fighter, and will be a tough challenge for Floyd. Hell, he might even win...but I doubt it.

His resume may be overrated specially as he was (proven) to be on steroids I believe during his greatest triumph in beating DLH. H2H in his prime though, both at LW & WW, one of the best ever.

Mosley was seen as a shot past prime fighter 2 years ago straight after his fight with Mayorga. People thought Cotto would beat him and Cotto did but Mosley put up a much better fight than people predicted. I picked Mosley to beat Margo but those who lack analysing skills picked Margo and was so shocked when Mosley beat Margo that the underrating of Mosley turned to overrating.

Margo was tailor made for Mosley. Because of Mosley's size he is top 3 WW today but lets not forget, a lot of people now believe Cotto to be some B level fighter, Cotto beat Mosley. Mosley is roughly the same level as Cotto now, p4p neither guy is as good as PBF/Pac but because of their size, H2H they come pretty close.

Mosley is Floyds toughest test yet, Floyd gets credit for taking him on and even more for beating him. IMO it will be Floyds greatest victory.

Well, he wasn't winning the 1st fight going away against Vargas, before they stopped it...the fight was still up for grabs.

Definitely Floyd's greatest victory if he wins, but he still won't get full credit for it...people will say he beat an old Shane.

Absolutely! Mosley was ahead in that fight with Vargas, people need to do their damn homework before starting these kind of threads!

Also, the threadstarter fails to take into consideration Mosley's longevity, his willingness to take chances, his ability to bounce back from defeats, the entertainment value of most of his fights and doesn't mention Shane's dominant wins over solid fighters like Collazo and Margarito in his mid-thirties.
