What exactly has Mosley done that make him so great?

what about fighting Barrera when he was top dog at 126? and then fighting MArquez in his very next fight, who people were saying was being ducked by everyone.

I know Mosley has the steroid thing that will always be over his head...... But he didn't get caught with it, he came out and admitted it like a man.

But there does certainly need to be more fighters like Mosley, like one of the above posters said, "if you are always fighting the best, you will eventually lose"

And that is the case with most all time greats, some fights they just cant win.

Don't get me wrong, I said Pac was a great fighter, but his camp certainly calculates his risks and takes the best option.

The same thing can be said about Pac and Barrera as Jones and Toney....

Jones gets the most crap for calculating his risks, but at one time he moved up in weight and dominated one of the best fighters in the world.

I would not try to discredit Pac, but believe he has a great chance of winning with whoever he gets put in the ring with, and it is certainly calculated.

We should have believed Roach about taking the Oscar fight.... He said Oscar could not pull the trigger anymore before the fight, and he was right.... You think Pac would have got in the ring with a prime 147 pound Oscar???

He wont even fight Mayweather, Prime Oscar is a different story.

It's pretty ridiculous to try and use fighting DLh as cherry picking, when DLH was heavily favored with 9 out of 10 posters picking DLH to whup him.

I thought Oscar would win too Lance, but looking back to the whole fight buildup and on 24/7, Roach clearly says multiple times that he doesn't think Oscar is at his best anymore, and that is why they were fighting him. At the time I didn't believe it, but after the fight I knew exactly what he meant.

    Hindsight is always 20/20:rofl

Dude...anyone who saw DLH fight Forbes knows he is not at his best anymore. Really...there was no reason to assume DLH was at his best. Still...DLh was a huige betting fave. Everyone (well, almost) still picked DLH to crush Pac. And besides, not being at one's best does NOT equal shot. Floyd's not at his best anymore. Shane isn't either. Neither are shot. Both would STILl be great wins to add to a resume, even when not at their best.

He fought all the dangerous opponents and even after being outclassed in the Forrest and Wright fight he fought them again.

Usually when fighters get beat the way Mosley was beaten the first time around by those two you do not ask for rematches.

Mosley is just a guy that if he was managed by some of todays promoters would not have as many losses and also probably not as many top fighters on his record.

He will fight anyone and as he always says "I always go for the Knock Out Larry"

What the hell is not great about a guy like that??

    Boxrec is fun ain't it?

First he was a freak at LW. We're talking poor mans RJJ at 135. The guy was a specimen and freakishly unique. Then after dominating (and I mean dominating) the LW scene, he skips JWW and goes up to 147. He takes on the very tough Wilfredo Rivera and whoops him for a 10th round KO. Worth noting Rivera's only losses were to DLH and Pernell Whitaker. He takes on DLH and beats him in an insanely entertaining fight He follows that up by beating the unbeatedn Shannon Taylor.

He has two losses to Vernon Forrest but Forrest was a stylistic nightmare for any fighter out there and I don't necessarily hold it against him. He rebounds from that by beating DLH in a close fight. If you think he lost then that's fine, I personally think he lost to. Still a win is a win and that's that. Then he loses two fights against Winky Wright, a guy he should've never fought in the first place. Wright was too long, had too good a jab and was just too big for Shane.

He rebounds from THAT by beating Vargas twice, making Luis Collazo look like an absolute amateur (something nobody has done) and then loses a close razor thin decision to Cotto. He rebounds from THAT with wins over Mayorga and a conquest over Margarito. Now he's on his way to fighting Floyd Mayweather.

Maybe Mosley's record doesn't look so sexy when you pull itr up...but consider the contexts of his career. He is not overrated. He is as good as people advertise.
