Sorry if this is the wrong section, but one story I often see is that Rocky Marciano diet consisted of tons of vegetables and chewing, but not swallowing steak. I'm trying to get into shape, and hopefully take up boxing, so I tried this. And I have to ask what actually is the point to the steak thing? I know there must be something for a legend like Marciano to do it; but right now I'm hungry, and broccoli isn't filling,
It was Archie Moore that did that, I'm pretty sure, and he used it to help him lose weight. I have a friend that started doing it when he fought pro in the late 60s and he still does it when he thinks he needs to lose a few pounds.
He got all the right things from the steak, proteins, vitamins etc. and lost weight. I heard also that this might cause problems to some because your body automatically kicks in all the acids to start digestive process and if there is nothing to digest, it will digest itself
I imagine you could avoid this by just eating vegetables to give the stomach something to digest alongside the steak juices.
I doubt you'll get any real value from the food by just chewing it and spitting it out. Sure the digestion process begins with with the enzymes in your spit but the majority is done in the rest of your gut. It might help with slating your lust for certain food by tricking the brain into thinking you've eaten it. We used to sniff chocolate when we were cutting and feeling peckish. No science to back that up without googling it though.
Everyone is looking for that secret sauce whether it is chewing steak and spitting it out , drinking your own urine , drinking blood etc. etc. Archie Moore was a fairly decent at self promoting himself and the story I heard was he was taught the principal by an Aborigine! If Archie was around today with weigh in 36 hours before the fight he would get to super middle with powdered supplement meals.
