About this issue with DLH abandoning the jab against Mayweather.....
....I think there were two reasons why DLH stopped jabbing.

    1. Whenever DLH wanted a break and a lull in the action, Mayweather took it to DLH not letting him rest.

    2. Because of the fatigue factor, DLH's jab got lazy and Mayweather started to rockback in many of the instances that DLH would jab, and counter DLH with a power right hand that would land flush on DLH's face.

......so imo, it was'nt just an issue of DLH just abandoning the jab, Mayweathers effectiveness in countering that jab and countering it hard, led to DLH using it less frequently.

.....but I do agree, for DLH to win, he has got to have the mindset that he is going to use his jab and use it for more than to just set up his power. DLH has got to use his jab to punish, and pick his spots to throw power only in small spurts.
In other words, DLH has to look at film of Larry Holmes and look to win almost exclusively by jabbing!

....and even with a DLH jabfest, it wont be easy, because Mayweather is so fast and sharp with his shots.....he has an offensive arsenal that can make DLH think twice about what he is doing.
....anybody that saw how Mayweather threw fast and wicked shots to hurt DLH to the body, know very well of what I'm talking about.

    Can't disagree at all.

Oscar could jab consistently all he wants. Mayweather is too skilled to be beaten by one punch. He'd figure out a plan b, c, or d after a few rounds.

i'd like to see him try and unify 154 before he retires.

it's a weight limit he can make and fight effective in.

leave floyd to fight the best welterweights.

no one cares if oscar never has another big fight.

he's had so many of em.

at least try and unify or something. :good

It amuses me that DLH wasnt happy with his own performance and yet you have apologists on here that are happy and content and willing to go to any lengths to explain why it was such a good performance.

Styles make fights Lance. You can't compare a fighter with Forbes style to a fighter like Vargas or Mosley who like to slugg.

Even Cotto would look dull against a defensive slick fighter. Anyone would.

Why do you think fighters like, Winky, Whitaker, Mayweather are not huge stars despite their talent? Because they make good fighters look bad and they make for boring fights. Forbes is in that style.

Oscar didd what he had to do in the ring last night and looked impressive. He put together good combinations, had a good jab, and have very good defense last night. I still don't think he deserves at Floyd Mayweather Jr., but what can you do?

Thats going to be hard to do when you don't have power in your right hand..
Oscar can jab hard as he want all night but unless he has something to follow it , it no good . Floyd can counter oscar jab all night and not fear any thing following it up.. and Oscar not fast enough to jab get countered and follow up with a hook. by the time he does floyd will be on the other side of the ring .

And he also has a second brain located in his ass so that a fighter can not sneak up behind him. Perfection. :nut

    Yup . . . exactly what I mean.

STOP the bull**** money fights that doesn't have any bearing and fight for a legitimate title.

At least he'll be accomplishing something while earning money.

    DLH cares!

He knows that he has'nt delivered with winning THE BIG FIGHT in his entire career.

IMO he needs a win over either Mayweather or Cotto to solidify his standing as an all-time great.

DLH will never be mentioned with the Ali's, Duran, Leonard, Hagler, Chavez, Holyfield, etc.....but he needs a true big fight win to make a case for himself!

Didn't see the fight but is it possible DLH held back so as not to 'scare off' Cotto?

You know, played possum to bring in Cotto?
