I think the best PPV card I have seen was promoted by Don King it was the "Revenge Card" I believe it had 4 rematches. I am to this day shocked with PPV most of the best matches I have seen in the last 10 years were non PPV HBO cards. I by no means miss Don King...but I have to admit the card was stacked..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revenge:_The_Rematches What a sick card... As for ordering cards, it is basically a given that the undercards are pure **** these days. GBP have the worst by far, in my opinion.
PPV is killing boxing, you have the world cup, superbowl, nba championships, world series, the masters, and the euro cups but............. try to watch a chavez jr fight for free lol really unless you pay for PPV you will never see PAC, mayweather, tyson, for free its rediculous.. unless you get illegal feeds, which i highly recomend, if boxing ****s you, **** em back.... i am never going to have to pay for the world cup or the super bowl and I will never pay for boxing!!!
King had another great card four months after The Rematch card. Trinidad-Campas Ruelas-Leija Randall-Coggi Chavez-Taylor 2 Then three months after that, he had this one. Castro-Jackson 1 Trinidad-Carr Randall-Moore Chavez-Lopez Not quite as good, but Castro-Jackson 1 is a classic. And this was back in the days when it was easy to steal cable.
I agree GBP is killing boxing. I was actually told that the matchmaker for GBP is Oscar's buddy who does not know squat about boxing.
Tyson's return Tyson-McNeeley Bruce Seldon-Joe Hipp WBA HW title The cheat Luis Santana-Norris III WBC 154 title Quincy Taylor-Julian Jackson WBC MW title Miguel Angel Gonzalez-Lamar Murphy WBC LW title
Another big card 12/13/03 Hopkins-Joppy MW title Mayorga-Spinks WW unification Ruiz-Rahman vacant WBA HW title Judah-Rangel WBO 140 lb title Travis Simms-Alejandro Garvia WBA 154 lb title
The best PPV top to bottom was a GBP card. People always blame GBP for bad PPVs when Top Rank is the worst.
Morales vs Pac 1 had a ****ing BOMB undercard though. I mean that was pure joy. Huseein-Arce, Morales-Pac and Castillo vs Morel
PPV isn't killingboxing it's keeping it alive. Without it, the fighters wouldn't be able to make jack **** as the cards would have to be televised on some obscure network at 2:00 am. Boxing is not on network TV for free because it is not popular enough to draw more viewers than a re-run of friends or seinfeld. PPV is the only way to get the fights to the people that want to see them and let the fighters earn what they deserve. In answer to the original thread question, Morales vs Paquiao 1 was worth every penny to me. You got Arce vs Hussein and then Morales vs Pacquiao
