For better or worse... I dont mean in the sense that all of a sudden you realised he was a changed boxer as such, you just saw something you liked/disliked in that occasion For Better- Mine is Cotto-Mallinaggi, shouting for Cotto to KO Paulie and expecting that, i like most had figured Paulie would look for a way out when the going got tough and maybe quit. But that i earned huge respect for Mallinaggi and his mental+physical toughness For Worse- Mine is Hopkins v Taylor I, the whole lead up to the fight i was trying to ignore Hopkins's remarks to Taylor, then in the fight Hopkins did literally nothing for the whole fight. I felt let down big time that he let his belts go that easily and never supported him the same since both Taylor fights. Though he earned respect against Pavlik again
Better= hopkins over pavlik, i usually cant stand him and the fact that he was impressive in his win caught my attention WORSE= chavez jr. against vanda, b4 this i knew he was flawed but he had no plan b he looked extremly average and a bit exposed
BETTER: So many to choose from really.. lol.. -Nick Casal against some southpaw he was getting schooled the whole fight but never quit.. showed some heart.. -Chris Byrd getting by giant Jameel McCline since before that I wasnt too much of a Byrd fan. -Jorge Arce never quitting or stop trying against Mijares even though he was being pummelled. -I was already a fan of his supreme talent but seeing Zab not give up vs Cotto was something special to me. -Andrade - Bute lol im sure theres more im missing but cant think of.. Worse: hmm... -Cotto low blowing Judah on purpose left a very very sour taste in my mouth but I dont dislike him just dislike that he did that. -Lewis holding and huggin Tyson into submission -Lewis being hurt against Klitschko (but I mostly didnt like Lennox because of him beating up my hero Tyson lol) -Margo - Williams. Margo was schooled and he knows it Theres never really a worse or better cuz usually I form an opinion about a fighter from just one fight and from there personalitys so it really depends.
Lennox Lewis comes to mind ..He was a fighter I could not stand but eventually I learned to appreciate his mastery of the sweet science ..
Frazier was not one my fav fighters but he showed tremedous heart against foreman, getting up after being knocked down continusly with foreman throwing bombs relentlessly worse- Gatti and pbf...ugh gatti should of gave up after 3. terrible.
Lewis vs Bruno in '93. I quite liked Lewis but I was much more a Bruno backer. I didn't lose my fandom for Bruno but it did open my eyes to Lewis. Though he hadn't fought well, the way he dug in and fought back impressed me.
For: Tszyu's class after the Hatton fight. No excuses, complete sportsman. Against: Hatton after the pbf fight...whinging about ref and other things.
