I agree, i thought this guy was gonna be huge after wards, and thought it wasn't fair that he wasn't' getting any good fights.

not as spectacular as some mentioned, but I think

Glen Johnson's win over Roy Jones would have put him in with the high profile and earning big boys. Hasn't worked out as such.

Also, Robin Reid who beat Nardiello(?) in Italy for the WBA(?) belt and then lost it against Malinga. Became kind of a journey man after all that.

Douglas, Barkley, and Randall have got to be the top 3 underdogs for me. Of recent memory to a much lesser extent gotta be Prescott and Sanders.

I gotta disagree about Forrest tho. After his losses to Mayo he was still able to bounce back with respectable victories over a comebacking Quartey in a close fight some thought Ike might of won and he avenged his close loss to Mora in deciding fashion and regain his title. He would of given any 154lb hell because I believe he still had 1 more great fight in him.

You could disqualify him on the technicality that he was robbed and didn't actually get the W but Felix Sturm. He got big time name recognition after spanking DLH and didn't do **** after thatn.

Another current example might become Nonito Donaire. One big win over two years ago now, and he's really done nothing to captialize on it. I think most people suspect he COULD beat good fighters if he ever matched up with them, but it just isn't happening.

Pavlik did not "burst onto the scene from obscurity." He was only an obscure name to people who do not follow boxing. Those of us who actually follow the sport literally watched Pavlik grow up on cable TV.

And again, the win over Taylor was only an upset to people who do not follow boxing, or understand how and why "styles make fights."

On a British note, Steve Robinson came from nowhere and won the WBO title, defended it a few times before getting beat by Naseem.

Corrie Sanders shouldn't be on this list.

He was semi-retired at the time, and had been in and around contender status for years and years.

Sanders wasn't an obscure fighter at all IMO. He was known as a quick lefty who could crack early, but faded - and a fighter who if he'd taken boxing more seriously, could have done more with his career.

It was an upset sure, but he was hardly an obscure fighter. A typical Sanders prediction would go "Sanders wins by early KO, or loses by late TKO".
