Kind of in Mexico everything is about where you are from. Not in a Gang like way but in the sense that everybody is proud of where they are from. It could stem from city, state, or region. However, in an international competition Mexicans are Mexicans. For example, in soccer the biggest rivalry is between Chivas and Club America however when they play in international soccer tournaments the differences disappear. The Barrera vs Morales rivalry was and is huge. It was so big that Marquez was off the radar for so many years despite his level of talent. My family had a bar in Los Angeles and the biggest ppv draws at our bar were Chavez, Oscar, Barrera, Morales, and Chiquita Gonzalez. Oscar of all the names listed was the only one people wanted to see lose. Oscar was liked by a minority of Mexican expatriate boxing fans. Oscar however, was liked usually by casual fans. Overall, Morales has more fans because of the style he showed in his wins over prime fighters. Erik was liked more than the other fighters during the last 15 years.
So then just put "recent" in there in your head and proceed as normal. Believe me man, You'd much prefer a nice guy like me correcting you on the thread/tread issue then some psycho who's going to threaten to **** your mom over it. We got killers on here
i know allot of people thank mab 4 his victory over naseem h...my mab pick is more a personal 1 as i live in aus and have prolly met 10 if that mexicans in my life and that was at school in asia...mexico is on my travel list cus i wnna go c where my fav fighter jcc comes from and sink heaps of coronas...
Barrera was a little more accomplished in his career than EM, I think.....But Mexicans are probably most proud of EM - dude was an absolute warrior...
First off, thanks for defending me here Arriba my friend. Appreciate it pal. Secondly, if it makes you feel any better, I will put this whole thing to an end and send out an official truce so to speak. It was wrong of you to question my boxing knowledge just because of a simple understanding. But I can look past this, because I know the extent of my boxing knowledge, and there are many respected posters on this forum that would back me up and tell you that I do in fact have a very extensive boxing knowledge. At any rate, I apologize for wording my thread title incorrectly, and will try to be more clear in the future. So let's put this whole thing behind us. Truce?
Barrera is my pick but i think Marquez and Morales are only a hair behind him. Id say all 3 are on the same level. Although Morales and Barrera have the better resumes. For me Barreras style is more pleasing love his combos and the way he can either outbox you or outbrawl you. Although i know that Overall Morales is the most popular of the 3 in Mexico.
