That's been refuted so thoroughly and so many times, just repeating this tired cliche immediately marks you as boxing ignorant.

Because it's stupid, it's untrue and it's been shot down 1000x irrefutably. If Roy Jones could get dropped by Lou Del Valle I don't see how he could be regarded as unstoppable.

 

Young Tyson was brutal power with speed.

 

Foreman, that victory over Frazier just made him look unstoppable. Prime Roy Jones though was so unhittable that I'd put him at a close second.

 

To little kids I am sure it is Tyson, but for those who have been around the sport it is clearly Foreman.

 

At the time people thought that Foreman might kill Ali....literally. He was probably the most feared boxer in history up to that fight.

 

On the contrary you have to remember that when Forman faced Frazier he was an underdog with a 37-0 record.

Tyson's first fight as an underdog came against Lennox Lewis in 2002.

For someone to exhibit 4 years of dominance only to have the crowd pay for another 15 years hoping that he brings some of it back shows that at the top of his game he was unbeatable.

Foreman looked invincible at some point but never to the extent of Mike Tyson.

If we're talking about mass perception prior to their first loss, and not ATG status - it's absolutely Tyson.

There could be generational bias; I wasn't a little kid in the 70's or the 90's...I was a little kid in the 80's. Mike Tyson was a monster. Literally. His name was invoked to make you **** your pants on command.

 

Ali was about a 3-1/4-1 underdog against Foreman so I think Douglas could have easily been a 42-1 underdog vs Foreman.
