I love the old style art work - Norman Rockwell drew/painted some great stuff - including, IIRC, famous boxers like Joe Louis etc. LOL, even the German word for breakfast reads/sounds like a no nonsense “obey or die” command. You agree, Jawohl?

Ha ha, I know this cliché about the German language. I can't judge it myself because it's my mother tongue. So, it sounds neither good nor bad to me, just neutral. I just know that nobody in Germany speaks like e.g., in the video. That sounds awful and totally fake. You can use it when you want to scare little kids.
Maybe you'll visit Germany someday. Then you can send me a pm. Maybe I'm somewhere around.

I actually plan to visit Germany in a few years. Besides the sights, the compelling feature of travelling is meeting people of different nationalities/cultures. So much to share.

Re sights, among many other things, I want to visit some of the many and varied castles - it seems that there are 10s of 1000s there - built in different time periods also, some going back many centuries with others being built in the mid to late 19th century.

I wonder what they’re selling for? LOL.

I like to meet people of different nationalities/cultures as well. When I was a student, my dormitory was full of people all over the world...

Unfortunately, real estate prices are extremely high at the moment. To buy a castle, you have to have many millions of dollars/euros. But there are certainly possibilities to get such properties affordable. But then it's something badly in need of renovation (which is pretty costly again) and somewhere totally remote from big cities and industrial centers. Maybe somewhere in rural Eastern Germany....
There are also many beautiful properties in pretty, rural areas in Italy that are almost given away. The problem is that there are hardly any job opportunities there.

Okay, but if you like medieval destinations/towns then my insider tip is the medieval university town of Tübingen. Another great spot is Bamberg (UNESCO World Heritage site + loads of beer breweries). "Schlenkerla Rauchbier" is a beer specialty made of smoked malt. The best beer I have ever had and definitely recommendable! I think this statement deserves a signature
