I don't know if I necessarily agree with you...Although neither fighter fits the "criteria" of the thread. Judah has LOADS OF TALENT, just totally void of Heart, Desire and maybe a Lack of Solid Corner People to "get him over the hump".

As for Gamboa...Probably one of the most TALENTED AND ATHLETICALLY GIFTED FIGHTERS in the sport today. The problem is and seems to be, he has a RISK/REWARD style. Most fighters with his skill are normally BOXERS that move well and can hit-without getting hit. Gamboa appears to be a PUNCHER/BOXER....in that he prefers to mix-it-up and in the process, he gets hit. Maybe his defense could use some improvement, but just because a fighter takes a good shot and hits the canvas...doesn't mean he has a poor chin. Especially since he has shown the ability to get up off the canvas to win fights. But I definitely see your point.

I understood your post just fine.. Your basically saying that arreola, maidana and quintana beat hype jobs and they themselves are hype jobs!!

Berto and Kirkland are hypejobs that haven't beaten other hypejobs. They've been created. Time will tell if they're worth the hype in the long run. Bradley and Alexander are different in my mind. They haven't beaten any hypejobs (140 is largely devoid of legit superstar talent, and the only fighters that I'm aware of that are hypejobs without doing anything were Ortiz and Khan). They've come up through relative anonymity, they've come up the right way in my mind even though they haven't beaten superstar talents (because there really isn't any).

My post was simply to point out that Darryl wouldn't call a black fighter a hypejob when he clearly called Chazz Witherspoon a hypejob.

Deandre Latimore gained some small amount of notoriety by beating hypejob Sechew Powell.

Sechew Powell actually gained his hypejob status by disposing of hypejob Cornelius Bundrage in the first round.

Breidis Prescott has already been mentioned several times. He's a perfect example - one fight against a rising star, one punch, and he rocketed to fame and then disappeared just as fast.

Even one of my own favorites, in my avatar, Sergio Martinez gained massive popularity by contributing to the serious declination of the hype trains of Kermit Cintron, Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik. His record says a win, a draw and a loss in those three bouts, but we know he finished Kermit Cintron twice during that fight and somehow managed a draw, and arguably defeated Williams by a narrow margin, when previously the level of his competition, for the most part, had been relaxed at best.

 YOU are officially in Darryl's dislike list. He won't like the fact u talk negatively of a black fighter, yet he is ALWAYS (OK, maybe just 99% of the time) thrashing other boxers, specially puertoricans and other latinos.

BTW Darryl, among those three fighters the one that least convincingly beat Quintana was Williams. I think he just caught Quintana cold too early by surprise... it happens. What's odd is the fact that Williams never even dared to mention Quintana's name again back then when a rubbermatch could've been the fair thing to do! Quintana was a great athlete but he wasn't brought up/ managed properly... too much time in between fights ruined him.... anyways, I think u got the wrong one here.... the hypejob here is Berto, his win over this Quintana means nothing.... how about his fight against Collazo?.. AGAIN, another of ur fighters that suffers from amnesia and never utters the name of a fighter they know will probably give them tons of problems or even win in a rematch.... I'm pretty sure Collazo would jump @ the opportunity of giving Berto another ass whooping! :smooch

For the record, I don't think Gamboa has a weak chin. I think he throws a lot of punches, leaves himself open and somewhat off-balance, and gets tagged and put down. He's never looked hurt when he's got up off the canvas, or looked like he's been seriously damaged at any point during any of his fights.

Some of the fighters being labeled hype jobs here is appalling.

What is SAD and Down-Right Pitiful and a serious indictment on alot of these posters OBJECTIVITY...is the fact that some of these posters (I almost called them idiots, but that would make me no better than them, always using insults)...anyway, these posters actually believe that fighters like Berto, or Alexander and Williams are HYPEJOBS...REALLY?

Let's take a look at Paul Williams. Here is a self-made fighter. No huge Amateur Background, doesn't have the Top Rank or Golden Boy Machine behind him. In fact, Paul Williams was the MANDATORY challenger for Margarito's title, but Margarito/Arum didn't want to fight Williams. "Team Williams" THREATENED A LAW-SUIT to get that fight!!! So my question is: WHAT HYPEJOB DOES THAT? After he could not secure a meaningful fight at 147lbs (Translation: No-one wanted to fight him) he goes to 160lbs and attempts to challenge the "So-Called" TOP DAWG at 160lbs...Kelly Pavlik, So again: WHAT HYPEJOB DOES THAT? And after PAVLIK CANCELS just to fight a 6th place finisher from "The Contender"...Williams goes after the "So-Called" best 154lbs fighter, Martinez. So again: WHAT HYPEJOB DOES THAT?

Now Andre Berto. Sure Berto Struggled with Collazo. But people are talking as if Collazo is some backwoods, obscure, journeyman chump. Collazo was a solid Amateur, and a Talented and Skillful Veteran Southpaw (did anyone see Collazo vs Hatton). And for the record...if a close fight goes to the fighter that you DON'T LIKE....it doesn't make it a ROBBERY. After fights with Urango and Quintana in which Berto handled pretty easy, He has now set him self up for a fight against the best.

Devon Alexander fights and STOPS two former belt-holders and then "Team Alexander" (trainer/manager Kevin Cunningham) goes after Bradley, Lamont Peteron, Zab Judah and Ricardo Torres...WHAT HPYEJOB DOES THAT? After failed attempts to secure fights with those fighters...HE SETTLES FOR ANDRIY KETOLNIK.

Now...Just because you guys don't like Alexander, Berto and Williams...DOESN'T MAKE THEM HYPEJOBS. In fact, I never called the aforementioned fighters (Maidana, Arreola and Quintana) Hypejobs. I just simple said that they benefited (getting certain fights, including title fights) by beating a HYPEJOB. And for some...including Maidana, the jury is still out on him. And it's a rather sad commentary about some posters who would rather respond with insults, name-calling, accusations and trying to dis-credit a TS, rather than responding intelligently about the content of a thread. The creators of this website gave people this amazing opportunity to interact with fightfans from all over the globe and share creative thought and expression about the sport "we" love...And some posters ruin this opportunity in every post...because they offer NO SUBSTANCE...Just Insults.
