IMO by this time Gomez had let his skills wane and loosen. The other thing is that the smaller man, Gomez, actually struggled to make the weight after miscalculating. Whether it made a big diff is up to personal opinion.

If Pernell Whitaker had single-shot KO power, there would only be one answer to this question.

    In reality: Sugar Ray Leonard.

if not for his suspect chin and inability to cope with slick speedsters I'd agree with you

Ezzard Charles is a fighter that I regard to have some of the best all round ring skills. Before the tragic death of young Sam Baroudi, Charles was a fighter who possessed magnificent all round ability and had a lot of venom in his shots. He wasn't called the Cinicinatti Cobra for nothing. He was never the same fighter after the tragic incident, fearing to much he may inflict similar damage to another fighter.

first thing he did was limber up. Nothing unusual there. But upon seeing him in action, I was alarmed by his lethary and stiffness, almost as if were beset with arthritis. The crowd was somewhat quiet as tho they didnt know what to think. Miss and catch was the theme of the day and Marvin caught dozens but mostly on the gloves. There was nothing he could do about it. he was incapable of dealing with the speed and youth of the 3 brothers. He was so over the hill.

it amazes me when people here say "Hagler was slipping" and "just a little past it". This has to be one of the biggest lies ever perpetrated on the boxing community. His fans will do or say anything to give their man credibility.

In the book Sorcery at Caesar's, it mentions the fact that Hagler was outboxed in that session but you'd have to have seen it yourself to get an appreciation for it and the media has done a great job of keeping this embarrassment hushed up.

To be fair I read that Leonard likewise took his lumps in sparring around the same time. I didnt see it myself so I couldnt tell you but from what I read, had been knocked out in a sparring session.

Ok wait, wouldn't Sweet Pea have a much different style if he did have power? Kostya Tszyu comes to mind as a fine technical fighter, who got drunk off his own punching power as his career progressed.

    Lalonde

    hearns 2X

    Norris 2X

    Camacho

not to mention the numerous times he went spaghetti legs

and that's in only 40 fights

    Seriously people, stop playing around!

He has this very disturbing hatred towards Marlon Starling and Ray Leonard. You'd think that they shagged his mother collectively.
