ehh i messed up the title
Some off the top of my head with large neck muscles and good chins.
    Mike Tyson
Holyfield (strong trapezius muscles around neck)
    Marvin Hagler (same as Holyfield)
Ding a ling man Darnell Wilson
    James Toney
    David Tua
    Ray Mercer
    Shannon Briggs
I think Muhammad Ali had a pretty big neck.
    Maybe George Chuvalo?

I'm unsure about ones like Jake LaMotta and other old time fighters.

Average necks with a good chin: Every Mexican fighter
    Pacquiao (huge head however)

Any fighters with thick necks that have not so good punch resistance?
Any boxers of the past or present that were known to do intense neck strengthening exercises?
Don't exactly know where I'm going with this thread but basically are there any physical characteristics of a good chin?
    skull thickness? etc...

Of the old timers Les Darcy had a thick neck and was never floored or even wobbled that I know of.

Frank Bruno and possibly Lennox Lewis?

I also think Riddick Bowe had a thick neck and his chin was exceptional

His chin was not exceptional at all , he just avoided punchers that could reach him @ d pros .
Holyfield floored him but Holyfield is underrated as a puncher .

For once I feel obliged to agree with FF...nothing really special about the garbage can man with the evil troll of a manager.

I never meant that there was nothing special about him . He was a good infighter and a quality big heavyweight and his size alone made him special . All i meant was that his chin gets overrated because of d reasons that i mentioned . Not that he was particularly fragile either .

Oliver McCall obviously - thick neck and probably d 1 most durable ever .
Not a thick neck & still durable ? Aaron Davis , Dwight Davison , Sanderline Williams , Mike McCallum .
I think Doug Jones was quite a durable fighter , especially 4 a relatively thin necked "heavyweight" , unless u consider Jerry Quarry as a chinny fighter , which I do understand , but Jones was a lighter man than Quarry , and I think that quite as durable .

Great shout on David Tua btw - what's his neck measurement by the way?

  14. most fighters are thicker at the neck than your average joe, and most fighters strengthen their necks also, a guy with a big bone structure a thick neck whos stocky at the shoulders most of the time will take a better shot than a pencil neck built like a ballerina....
